When Kelly's father decides to send her to Europe for a year, Woody tries to get her to elope with him. Woody's upset when he learns that his beloved Kelly is going to Europe to study for a year, arranged by her father as an attempt to make her forget about Woody. In response, Woody gives her a promise ring to make sure she remembers him when they are miles apart. Kelly accepts the ring at first, but after a trivial spat, she gives the ring back to Woody and storms out of the bar. While Woody laments the loss of his true love, Sam tells him he should proclaim his feelings to Kelly. Woody, however, takes his suggestion literally and decides to ask Kelly to elope. Sam goes after Woody to advise him against doing anything hasty. Woody climbs in through Kelly's window and the two begin to talk. Suddenly, they are interrupted by her father's knock at the door. Woody hides in the closet but overhears Kelly's father say how much he loves her and will miss her. Later, Woody tearfully tells her that he couldn't just run off and elope and take her away from the father who loves her so much. The two ultimately decide that it would be best to hold off on marriage, and instead become secretly engaged so that they will still share a bond while they are apart. watch
