Cheers to a couple of old pros for bringing character to The Mentalist.

Richard Roundtree and Pruitt Taylor Vince provided the dramatic muscle in an otherwise lightweight episode about a DOA at an MMA fight. The man once known as "the black private dick who's a sex machine to all the chicks" — Shaft! — proved he still knows his way around the ring as a sly trainer. If only Roundtree could recur, like he did in recent years on Heroes and Desperate Housewives. Maybe Simon Baker's Thomas Jane could distract himself from obsessing over Red John with a few boxing lessons?...

Episode Recap: "The Kindness of Strangers"This wasnt the strongest episode of the second season, but it did offer some insight. Not every chapter of a story is meant to be entertaining. Each chapter has a purpose: Some may hold solutions, while others bridge the gaps between clues. I know many have complained about the increase of characters. The truth is, in order to have death, we need more life. I cant think of a former Hero I am ready to part with, so if a newbie bites the dust, I wont feel so bad. However, Id like Micahs cousin to stick around for a while. Not the bratty wrestling fan — the other cousin. Monica Dawson is a fast learner. When Monica sees something — a somewhat simple task (Im sure she cant regenerate or fly by viewing) — she can mimic it. For example, she carved a tomato into a rose and used a "pro" wrestling move on a thief. I think she can only perform this power when she sees something o...

If you'd told me back in January, when 24 premiered with a riveting four-hour blast of breakneck suspense, that on the last Monday of the regular season I'd be looking more forward to Heroes' finale than 24's, I'd have frisked you for your crack pipe.Funny how things work out. As I've written in my Review column and elsewhere in my online columns, as Heroes' narrative tightened in late January and February before going into overdrive in this final May stretch, 24 began to crumble and ultimately fell apart. Leaving me wondering: When's the last time I approached a season finale of 24 with anything less than breathless anticipation? The answer: Never. Until this season. And my low expectations for Mondays two-hour finale (it felt longer) were pretty much rewarded. The problems with 24 can be pretty well summed up in a woeful line of dialogue from Nadia, after Doyle is blinded by a faked circuit board that explodes in his face, the latest casualty who zigged where Jack would have ...

First of all, how exciting was the news last Friday morning that Grey's beat CSI in the ratings? Never thought it would happen since CSI has been such a juggernaut ever since it moved to Thursdays from Fridays years ago. CSI (along with Survivor) caused CBS to take away the "Must-see TV" title away from NBC as far as Thursdays were concerned. CSI for me has always stood for Can't Seem Interested or Can't Stand It (and before a bunch of you tell me you like both shows, that's fine I'm thrilled it's just not my cup of tea). But I digress. Grey's beat CSI, and I was shocked. Now, on with the show....Hello - Meredith couldn't choose between Derek and Finn, so she chose both! And shut up that McSteamy's back! But I'll rewind and say that I liked that Meredith kept going back and forth between the two of them. First it was Derek, then Finn. It was funny that Meredith spent the hour being obsessed about who to choose, while simultaneously, Cristina obsessed about not being a...
