It's been a busy year for Poppy Montgomery. The Without a Trace star became a mom on screen and off, welcoming son Jackson on December 23 and giving birth to a son on the drama's season finale in May. "I feel really lucky," Montgomery says. Without a Trace's Poppy Montgomery and Adam Kaufman welcomed their first child, a boy named Jackson Phillip Kaufman, on December 23, 2007. The baby was born in Los Angeles, and weighed in at 7 lbs., 4 oz. "This was the best Christmas present Poppy and Adam could have hoped for," the actress' rep, Jennifer Shoucair, tells TV Guide. "Both she and the baby are doing wonderfully!"As for Samantha Spade, she'll be in a family way for at least a while to come. "My pregnancy is five months ahead of the show," Montgomery recently told TV Guide, so when(ever) Trace resumes production, the actress will have to sport a prosthetic bump. CBS' ideal scenario was to hold off Sam's own childbirth until May sweeps, but... you know, strike happens.

Poppy Montgomery, the very pregnant actress from Without a Trace (Thursdays, 10 pm/ET, CBS), is trying to remember if she's ever changed a diaper. "Let me think…. I don't know. Adam, have I ever changed a diaper?" Adam is actor Adam Kaufman, the father of Montgomery's son-to-be and, for the moment, Montgomery's surrogate brain. "Poppy's been having some memory issues," Kaufman says with a laugh. "Sometimes she tells the same story three times." He gives Montgomery a playful nuzzle. The couple are sitting on a jumbo couch in their gorgeous, sun-drenched living room in Los Angeles' Pacific Palisades. Montgomery sighs, rubbing her Buddha belly. "OK, go ahead," she says. It's official: Poppy Montgomery's pregnancy will be written into the upcoming season of Without a Trace. Montgomery announced in June that she and boyfriend Adam Kaufman were expecting their first child in December. On a visit to a Trace location shoot in New York City earlier this week, TV Guide confirmed that Montgomery's character, FBI agent Sam Spade, will also be expecting. But who is Sam's babydaddy? Sam has had affairs with both boss Jack Malone and fellow agent Martin Fitzgerald, but could the father be someone else? Montgomery knows the answer, but won't give it away. "I have to bite my tongue because I'm busting to tell everybody," she says. "There are a number of people in the mix. I think it'll be quite surprising." Montgomery does reveal that Sam struggles with her choice of profession because she's carrying a child. "Every time she goes to work, she's potentially at risk for being killed.
