MTV VMA Top Moments: Kanye West Insults, Janet Jackson Honors MJ

Janet Jackson

The MTV VMA Awards were kind of fantastic. It's a tough show to pull off: So much of the show's success depends on the quality of a given year's popular artists. So we lucked out this year with Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift,  and a very skinny Eminem.  Welcome to Top Moments, VMA edition.

VIDEO: Alexis Grace Speaks Out about Her Too-Soon Sendoff

Alexis Grace

Alexis Grace, in all of her 4-foot-11, 98-lb. glory, came by the TVGuide.com offices this week to reflect on her run on American Idol, which many believe ended too soon.

We presented Alexis with the TVGuide.com poll in which 89 percent of the voters agree that a singer lobbying for the Judges' Save should be able to encore any past performance, rather than their most recent one. Impressed by the consensus, Alexis says, "It makes a strong point ... [though] there are arguments to be made for both sides."

In this video sit-down, Alexis also touches on these topics:

• Why she is particularly bummed about not making the cut for Idol's summer tour.

• Her plan to go "Dancing" during Motown week.

• Her favorite song by Pink, whom she has called her "dream duet."

• Did she really have 30 pairs of shoes with her at the Idol mansion?!

• And, of course, her future plans.

Watch and discuss Alexis' video, after the jump. read more

"While the marriage is over, their friendship has never been stronger.”The raspy-voiced diva met Hart at the 2001 X Games, and the couple married in a January 2006 ceremony in Costa Rica. — Adam Bryant read more

May 9, 2007: "And Then There Were Three..."

Thanks to a little bit of magic known as the TV webcast, and a tall guy going by "JK", I was able to watch Idol in L.A. at the N.Y. time, while the show was being taped live back in L.A. (Crazy, I know!) So, I’ve got the goods for you tonight earlier rather than later. See, I’ve got a gig to get to, so on with the show. After sitting through an hour of just about nothing — seriously, we’re winding down here and there’s only so much filler a girl can take — here’s all you really need to know. (Besides, if you watched the show, you really don’t want me to recap all that. And if you didn’t watch the show, you’ll thank me for not having to live through every stretched-out moment.)Barry Gibb sang live; his voice was as falsetto-y as ever. Pink sang, though not live, and she was pretty good. She’s grown on me since I saw her last year at the TV Guide Emmy party. She pretty much brought the house down there, and I had only really known... read more

Skating with Celebrities Well,...

Skating with Celebrities Well, as soon as Jillian Barberie fell during her free-skate routine with John Zimmerman, I knew it was over. That was really too bad, because I was rooting for them. But let's back this thang up to the beginning. The hour (again, this could have all been decided in 15 minutes, but that's a pointless argument) started off with the two final pairs dancing their favorite routines. Jillian and John performed to that Pink song, which was a good choice for them; Kristy and Lloyd skated to Edwin McCain's "I'll Be." I don't know — this time around their performance had that extra something, that extra je ne sais quoi. Just an observation. Then we were treated to ice capades-lite when the e read more
