Alex Preston

For the first time ever, the Final Four performed three songs each on American Idol Wednesday. The themes were breakups, make-ups and dedications, and one of the singers will get dumped by America on Thursday. Who will it be?

Let's get right to the performances:

MK Nobilette on Being First Openly Gay Idol Finalist: "I Never Intended It to Be a Big Deal"

MK Nobillette

Before the live shows even began on American IdolMK Nobilette had already made headlines for being the show's first openly gay contestant to make it past the early rounds.

"I'm very obviously gay," Nobilette told judges Keith UrbanJennifer Lopez and Harry Connick, Jr., shortly before she was ushered into the Top 30. And with those words, the frequent "are-they-or-aren't-they" aura that has pervaded Idol for 13 seasons, from Clay Aiken to Adam Lambert, was... if not shattered, at least dented a little.

American Idol: The Top 10 Sing Modern Hits

American Idol

It was all Top 10 all the time on Wednesday's American Idol, with the 10 finalists performing Top 10 songs from 2011 or later (a.k.a. songs that will make viewers of a certain age feel very old if they are unfamiliar with them).

Throughout the course of the evening, selfies were taken, judges Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban did amazing impersonations of each other, and Malaya got her first bouquet of flowers (aww) from Ryan Seacrest and the Idol crew. But let's get to the performances:

Review: A Slice of Oscar History

Ellen DeGeneres

Good to know I'm not the only one who needs pizza to make it through a long night at the Oscars.

With Ellen DeGeneres serving up laughs along with slices, disarming the starry crowd with stunts like a pizza delivery for the starving captive audience and a Superstar Selfie that temporarily broke Twitter (and during the taking of which Meryl Streep delightfully blurted, "I've never tweeted before!"), even the Oscars' inevitable dull patches felt less painful than usual.

Weekend Review: Hannibal, Binging (Or Not to Binge) on Cards, Oscars

Laurence Fishburne, Mads Mikkelsen

"I never feel guilty eating anything," purrs Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) as he serves up another portion of some erotically charged exotic delicacy. NBC's Hannibal (Friday, 10/9c), in its second season, is a feast of macabre freakishness, going beyond the realm of guilty pleasure in a sustained nightmare of horrific yet elegantly hypnotic design.

American Idol: The Top 13 Perform

Keith Urban, Jenifer Lopez, Harry Connick, Jr.

Did American Idol's Top 13 rise to the occasion?

Monday was the official debut of the Top 13 finalists and apparently, the debut of voting  at the top of the hour. The night's theme is "This Is Me," which we take to mean we can totally psychoanalyze the singers by their song choice. Will anyone dare to do "Billionaire"?
