You're really not going to find a cast much better than this for a TV movie. Sean Diddy Combs, Phylicia Rashad (the former Mrs. Huxtable), Audra McDonald (Private Practice) and John Stamos all star in tonights ABC TV-movie version of Lorraine Hansberrys A Raisin in the Sun. A fourth and all-black Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof will open March 7 at the Broadhurst Theatre, it was announced on Tuesday. Directed by Debbie Allen (Fame, fame!), this staging features James Earl Jones and Phylicia Rashad as Big Daddy and Big Mama, Terrence Howard as their son, Brick, and Anika Noni Rose (Dreamgirls) as Brick's "in need of an itch scratching" wife, Maggie. Oscar winner Forest Whitaker and director Kenny Leon have led a mass exodus from a planned, all-black Broadway revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, which was to also star Phylicia Rashad (as Big Mamma), Audra McDonald (Maggie) and Anthony Mackie (Brick). Sources tell the New York Post that the staging's "inexperienced" and "inept" producers two hedge-fund managers who, for instance, wanted to replace four-time Tony winner McDonald (whom they derided as "a regional theater actress") with Beyoncé are to blame.
