Will their streak continue or will 40-year-old Martin Brodeur lead his team to tying the series 1-1 headed to Los Angeles? For the Devils, it's imperative they win tonight so the series doesn't get away from them. The Los Angeles goaltender is coming out of the blue paint consistently and seems to be frustrating New Jersey forwards, who haven't scored a goal in nearly 60 consecutive minutes of hockey (since Volchenkov's goal in Period 2 of Game 1).Interesting tidbit from TSN's Darren Dreger:
For those who missed it, here's the first goal of the game, an impressive individual effort from Drew Doughty.
New Jersey wins the draw and Period 2 has begun. And for those wondering, final shots in the 1st were 10-6 New Jersey. After 20 minutes, it's Los Angeles 1, New Jersey 0.There are two minutes left in the 1st now. With 4 minutes to play in the first, and Los Angeles up 1-0, the Prudential Center is not very animated.
The chances are officially 9-3, and shots 5-4, both in favor of New Jersey, and they're really pressuring Los Angeles now. Some good forecheck and offensive zone pressure but still nothing on the scoreboard. Quick stands strong, as does the L.A. D.New Jersey is 0-for-2 on the power play and the Kings lead 1-0 halfway through the first.SB Nation has video of the Doughty goal here.New Jersey h
