Once changed a light bulb on top of New York's 700-foot-high Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.
Participated in setting a world record for group bungee jumping.
Once ate dinner on the edge of an active volcano.
Dumbest thing he has ever done "was swim from Asia to Europe across the Bosporus," he told Maclean's magazine. "It's only about a mile, but I drifted 3 miles down current and was nearly sucked under a giant oil tanker."
Was up for the hosting job for Survivor, but lost out to Jeff Probst.
In 2004, wrote the book No Opportunity Wasted, which aims to help people face their fears and realize their dreams. The idea for the book came out of his near-death experience at age 19 in a diving accident.
