I read the letter last week ...

Question: I read the letter last week from the person who had a problem with the 24 writers bringing Tony back from the dead, so to speak. I myself never thought Tony was dead, despite the silent clock, which, even if you think it's foolish, has been used for every "death" thus far. Just because the guy stabbed Tony with the needle and we saw Jack holding him and calling his name doesn't mean he's dead. There was a lot of talk about whether or not Tony was really dead, so I guess people were 50/50 on this. Anyway, you have to take 24 for what it is and enjoy the twists and turns just like with any drama. Surely Grey's Anatomy is mostly fiction. I just don't see that kind of BS going on in my hospital, but who wants to nitpick when you're enjoying the escapism.
Answer: I agree with the last point for sure, and it helps to apply the "it's only TV" rule to a show like 24 from time to time. When it's on its game, 24 is unquestionably a more serious show than the fizzy romantic melodrama of read full article

Monk Star Reunites with an Old Pal

The way Tony Shalhoub (who netted his fourth Emmy nod this week) and Stanley Tucci mercilessly rag on each other, it's easy to mistake them for family. But even though they played a pair of mismatched siblings in Tucci's delectable 1996 comedy Big Night, they're not related (although Shalhoub does affectionately refer to Tucci as "brother"). The two character actors forged a tight friendship back in 1989 at the Yale Repertory Theater, and have ever since gone out of their way to work together. Tucci has already cast his buddy in Big Night and read more

Good grief. That's the best way...

Good grief. That's the best way to describe the impact of 24's latest stroke of ruthlessness: killing off schlubby tech-nerd hero Edgar Stiles (Louis Lombardi) Monday night, amid an orgy of death in the steely corridors of CTU. After a nerve-gas canister was unleashed, only those who were able to duck for cover in sealed-off rooms survived (including, naturally, most of the core cast).

As his closest colleague, Chloe, watched, face contorted in a rictus of horror, Edgar slid out of sight behind a desk, drawing his last breath. He will be missed. Which is the point.

24 got off to a rip-roaring start this season, with the shocking assassination of former president David Palmer followed almost immediately by the car bombing of former CTU heroine Michelle, which wounded her husband, Tony, who only just gained consciousness before this latest terrible twist.

24 + 2 MORE

With Season 5 now less than a month away, Fox's 24 has announced two more hires: Two-time Tony Award nominee Jayne Atkinson will fill the role of Homeland Security official Karen Hayes, while Tony winner Stephen Spinella will play her subordinate, Miles. These additions, mind you, are in addition to Connie Britton as Jack's new honey, Sean Astin as a CTUer, Julian Sands as a baddie named Bierko, Jean Smart as President Doofball Logan's wife, and Peter Weller and JoBeth Williams as a federal agent and his wife. These new folks are so gonna steal time from my "Chloedgar" romance, aren't they? read more

Julian Sands, Peter Weller and JoBeth Williams are joining the cast of 24, which kicks off its fifth season on Jan. 15. Sands will portray billionaire baddie Vladimir Bierko, while Weller will play federal agent Christopher Henderson, the guy responsible for bringing Jack Bauer to CTU a decade ago. Williams will play Henderson's wife. read more
