A nearly unrecognizable Evangeline Lilly showed off a new hairstyle at the premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in New Zealand Wednesday. The former Lost star, known for her flowing brunette locks, now dons a super short, wavy look tinged with blond highlights.
Just after the Oscar nominations were read on Tuesday morning, Albert Brooks tweeted: "And to the Academy: "You don't like me. You really don't like me." The Drive star seemed to be a near-lock for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination, but his name wound up on the wrong side of the shortlist. "I got ROBBED. I don't mean the Oscars, I mean literally. My pants and shoes have been stolen," he continued to quip on Twitter. But Brooks' omission wasn't the only big shocker. Lost's Evangeline Lilly has joined The Hobbit.
"Evangeline Lilly will be playing a new character—the Woodland Elf, Tauriel," director Peter Jackson announced on Facebook. "Her name means 'daughter of Mirkwood' and, beyond that, we must leave you guessing! (No, there is no romantic connection to Legolas.) What is not a secret is how talented and compelling an actress Evangeline is; we are thrilled and excited she will be the one to bring our first true Sylvan Elf to life."
