The legendary Peter Falk is irresistible in a life-affirming comedy to die for that also stars Laura San Giacomo, David Paymer and Judge Reinhold. On the eve of his 90th birthday, eccentric, celebrated stage actor Morris Applebaum (Falk) summons his three grown children to his Manhattan apartment for a festive shindig no one will ever forget. Because when the party's over, Morris intends to make his "final exit". No, he's not ill or suffering from depression; he just wants to go out the way he's lived: on his own terms.
A famed stage actor (Peter Falk) reunites his family for a party, and plans to commit suicide afterwards, unless they are able to convince him not to.
Ben's dad Sam (Academy Award-nominee Peter Falk "The Princess Bride," "A Woman Under the Influence") shows up one night with a note from Ben's mother (Sam's wife of 46 years) (Academy Award-winner Olympia Dukakis - "Away from Her," "Moonstruck"), that she has left. While Ben's wife and his three sisters try to find her, Ben (Golden Globes-nominee Paul Reiser TV's "Mad About You," "Beverly Hills Cop") takes Sam on a day trip to see a farmhouse that's for sale. The day trip turns into a road trip while dad and son explore their past, their relationship, and why Sam's wife might have left him. The road trip includes fishing, drinking, playing pool, sleeping under the stars, and frank discussion. Anger simmers close at hand, as do love and hope. Where Sam's wife is - and why she left - leads to the movie's resolution.
After 47 years of marriage, Ben's mother unexpectedly leaves her husband. Hysterical antics ensue as Ben and Sam strengthen their father/son relationship.

After noticing that his head writer Jerry has been slacking off lately, Larry realizes that he knows little about his show's staff. Pressing Beverly for detail, he is told that Jerry has been having sex on the set with Sally, a new employee on the show. Learning that he was the only one who didn't know about the affair, Larry demands that Arthur help him become more connected with his staff and, going to see Jerry himself, asks him to rethink his romance with Sally or risk losing his job. While dictating a column for his fan club newsletter, Hank inadvertently tells Darlene to print his observations about Jerry and Sally's having sex in the parking lot. After witnessing the spectacle in the parking lot, too, Larry agrees to fire the head writer himself. However, listening to Jerry plead his case, Larry agrees to give him another chance. Meanwhile, when they are unable to resist each other, Jerry and Sally are spotted by guest Peter Falk having sex in the balcony during the show. After they are called into Larry's office, Jerry is shocked to find that Sally has taken a job in New York in order to be closer to her boyfriend. Then, in the wake of a violent argument between Jerry and Phil, Larry seeks out Arthur's help, insisting that he be distanced from the personal problems of his staff. Finally, when he discovers the mix up in the newsletter, Hank panics upon learning that Darlene is already sending them out to his fans.
