  • Formed influential alternative rock band Jane's Addiction in 1985, along with Dave Navarro, Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins.  
  • Started pop festival Lollapalooza as a farewell tour for Jane's Addiction in 1991; subsequently, the touring festival turned into an annual event at which he performed with his various musical incarnations during its seven-year run.
  • Formed Porno for Pyros with Jane's Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins in 1992.
  • His song "Go All the Way (Into the Twilight)" appeared on the Twilight soundtrack in 2008.
