Peri Gilpin

Hot in Cleveland is Hot for Guest Stars

Sherri Shepherd

In Season 2, Hot in Cleveland (10/9c, TV Land) has already seen Betty White's old TV pincushion Mary Tyler Moore and Valerie Bertinelli's former sitcom mom Bonnie Franklin fill big guest slots. And, according to executive producer Todd Milliner, the parade of bold-faced names won't end there. "We've got a lot of people who want to come in and play with these guys," says Milliner.

Now, I was all prepared to write what a dull episode of CI this week – then the last ten minutes happened. Who would have thought Frasier’s Roz ( Peri Gilpin) was a killer? Great bonus this week, we had two enjoyable guest stars – more on that later, now to the case.A football team wins homecoming and celebrates by having a party that includes beer and two strippers. When the party gets sour, one of the girls, Carla cries rape and it is turned into a high profile case against three of the football players. We join the case after the key witness, the other dancer Traci, is found dead after being pushed down the stairs outside her apartment. Traci was going to testify on behave of Carla in the rape case against the football players. As the investigation by Falacci and Logan begins, it looks like Carla’s boyfriend was going to turn out to be the murderer – or at least that is what I thought. How ironic that Andrew McCarthy played Bronx A.D.A., Gene Hoyle who wa... read more

April 22, 2007: God, That's Good

I love it when the DH writers give us those moments that involve a murder or a mystery and only one character is told the story behind the murder or the solution to the mystery, but we as viewers don't hear it and are left wondering. In this case, little Parker Scavo was told by Mrs. McCluskey exactly why her dead husband is inside her freezer, but he was sworn to secrecy. I assumed Ida Greenberg would be the one to first discover the secret (after seeing last week's coming attractions), but I didn't expect one of the Scavo boys to be the very first discoverer. Parker's look of utter shock was perfect (kudos to Zane Huett for being a super little actor). One of the funniest parts was at the hospital when Parker first told Mrs. McCluskey about his encounter while they were alone. Mrs. M: "Don't tell your brothers — you were always my favorite." Parker: "I saw the man in your freezer." Mrs. M (shouting): "Lynette! Can you go get me some green jello?" So when Ida was the second pe... read more

Frasier's Peri Gilpin Is Sized Up as Medium's Mom

Peri Gilpin on Medium

Allison Dubois' much-maligned and referenced mother gets a face in tonight's episode of Medium (10 pm/ET on NBC), when Peri Gilpin returns to TV for the first time since her 11-year-run on Frasier. "I've been kept busy with babies," says Gilpin, the mother of 3-year-old twin girls, Stella and Ava, who were born a month and a half after Frasier ended. "The timing couldn't have been better — to be home with them and raise them and get to know them and not be frazzled and distracted. It's fantastic!" Still, she's ready to return to TV. Gilpin, 45, says she "laughed out loud" when they told her she'd be playing the mother of Patricia Arquette, who is only seven years you read more

TV Guide Exclusive: Medium's Big Frasier Reunion

Peri Gilpin will return to series television for the first time since NBC's Frasier went off the air in 2004, after an 11-year run, when she guest-stars on the Mar. 7 episode of Medium. Gilpin will play a 17-year-old Allison's mother in a flashback, as Medium further delves into how Patricia Arquette's alter ego began to recognize her gifts. Gilpin's former Frasier costar Kelsey Grammer, of course, is an exec producer on Medium. — Reporting by N.F. Mendoza read more

OK, not really. But two of its leads are indeed returning to TV. Kelsey Grammer is directing the pilot for My Ex-Life, Tom Cavanagh's CBS comedy. And ABC's Women of a Certain Age has added Peri Gilpin to Heather Locklear and Illeana Douglas' circle of friends. Now that I think about it, that headline may have been misleading. And now that I think about it, I like the idea that I may have misled you a wee bit. Heh heh.

Frasier Wedding Mystery

Buzz that Frasier will cap its 11-year run in May by throwing a wedding for Kelsey Grammer's lovelorn shrink has everyone speculating about the identity of the future Mrs. Crane. Well, we can pretty much tell you who the radio caregiver won't be exchanging I-do's with: his trusty producer Roz (Peri Gilpin), who, in last May's finale, quit KACL in a jealous rage over her boss's romance with Julia (Felicity Huffman). "I'll tell you the truth," Grammer confides to TV Guide Online. "We've never actually seen [Frasier and Roz] as the ultimate relationship. It never seemed like the right place to go. But they certainly are the best of friends — and we'll restore that." But first, the tension created by Roz's lingering feelings will be dealt with in the Sept. 23 season premiere. "We will explore some of the psychological underpinnings as to why Roz acted that way," explains exec producer Christopher Lloyd. "But as far as an read more
