Thought the East-West rivalry went down with Biggie?Think again. Soon after it was suggested that 90210 would stage an intervention to keep its female stars from shrinking before our eyes, Gossip Girl's Penn Badgley had something to say about it. He said he's "never been [a] proponent of the thin L.A. girls," reports Pop Eater. Badgley contrasted 9-0's thin females to the "healthy" ladies of his NYC drama, who "aren't bone-thin," he said. The actor topped off his comments by echoing TVGuide.com readers with one piece of advice to the Beverly Hills actresses: "I hope they eat a double cheeseburger or something." Despite throwing down some regional fighting words, Badgley subscribes to his own philosophy. He's rumored to be dating one of those healthy (and gorgeous) Gossip girls, Blake Lively. Badgley's comments may catalyze a little coastal rivalry, but they're wise words nonetheless. Yet, is he being too harsh on TV newest starlets? Or should more young stars be speaking out against...

How cute are these two? Blake Lively and Penn Badgley not only do they play boyfriend and girlfriend in the hit series Gossip Girl (though after last week that may change), but in the real world, the two can't keep their hands off each other. After wrapping their first season, the lovebirds hit up the beaches of Mexico for some R&R (and some hanky-panky we're sure). They were even pictured snuggling on the beach!

Blake Lively and Penn Badgley, Gossip Girl
Take that, Nielsens. Turns out the mighty ratings system has met its match in a plucky little lady named Gossip Girl (Wednesdays at 9 pm/ET, CW). She may not have the biggest numbers, but raging word of mouth, mad style and a rules-rewriting DVR draw have made the CW's snazzy adaptation of the novels — Dynasty, 90210 by way of the Big Apple — the stuff teen dreams are made of. And that's the sort of rep every girl would die for.
1. It's the smartest ensemble this side of Fashion Week. Teen soaps usually have one weak link (no names, please!), but not in this cast. Blake Lively, as sassy Serena van der Woodsen, lives up to her name; Leighton Meester's broken-doll sadness saves Blair from bitch cliché;

Geez, who had Stiffler pegged as the career feature-film star? But I get ahead of myself. The latest pilot-casting news from Variety and the Reporter: CBS could soon be home to three American Pie stars. Jason Biggs is a Wall Street whiz who dies in a Blackberry-related car accident and, since Hades is full, is forced to endure "Hell on earth" (aka a life devoid of his fancy career, apartment and such) in I'm in Hell. Chris Klein, meanwhile, is the series lead's best buddy in The Captain, which has also added comic Al Madrigal as a janitor. Ricki Lake is the mom in The Middle, ABC's comedy about a lower-middle-class family in the Midwest. Michael McKean is a low-level congressman's chief of staff in ABC's The Thick of It. Tiffany Dupont, The Bedford Diaries
If The Bedford Diaries and its ribald undertones prove to be too hot for WB (or, ultimately CW) to handle, Tiffany Dupont can remove herself from any blame. After all, the perky brunette plays Sarah Gregory, the show's good girl on campus. (As "good" as one who boinks her teacher can be.) TVGuide.com spoke to Dupont about being an angel amidst Bedford's hellcats.
TVGuide.com: Did you actually shoot Bedford Diaries in New York City? It sure looks like it.Tiffany Dupont: Yes, we did. We had a studio in Astoria, Queens, but were shooting on location at Barnard [College] and Columbia [University].
