Question: I just read that Mike Kelley, the creator of Revenge, is leaving the show after this season. I will admit that this season isn't as good as the first, but it's OK. There are reports that Mike Kelley wanted shorter seasons, like on cable, with 13 episodes instead of the regular 22 moving forward. Since that wasn't going to happen, he left. What do you think? Do you think the show would work better with a shorter episode order? Also, if Kelley knew the show wouldn't work with longer seasons, why didn't he speak up the first season? Do you think someone else stepping in will freshen the show a bit? I will admit the time I started to take a step back and realize the writers were going too far was when they revealed Victoria had yet another child. Really?! Did you think the writers went overboard with that storyline in particular too? I also don't agree with the assertion that Scandal has replaced Revenge. read more

Ask Matt: Finales (Dallas, Southland, Suburgatory, Spartacus), Defiance, Americans

Question: I started watching Dallas at the tender age of 7. It was what my grandmother and I did on Friday nights and I have always been fond of the show. I was ecstatic when I heard about the new series. I have enjoyed it very much — although seeing some of the older cast members making an appearance has been somewhat painful — and I felt the way they handled the passing of Larry Hagman was respectful and keeping true to form with J.R. I read recently that Dallas has yet to be renewed. One of my frustrations with the mainstream networks (NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox) is that I'll get attached to a show and they cancel it. Please tell me TNT is going to renew this gem. Yes, the loss of J.R. as a character and Larry Hagman as an actor is a blow, but the story lines this season have been amazing and if they can keep it up, I know this show can have a good run. — Bonnie

Dallas Lays J.R. Ewing to Rest — What's Next?

When Josh Henderson landed the role of J.R. Ewing's son on TNT's reboot of Dallas, his TV dad Larry Hagman had one piece of advice: Have fun.

"I was a little nervous and he said, 'Hey, they cast you for a reason. Have fun,'" Henderson told TVGuide.com at Sunday's Paleyfest panel, moderated by TV Guide Magazine's William Keck. "He had fun every day. People had... read more

The Monday Playlist: Dallas Lays J.R. to Rest and Other Final Acts

Break out the bourbon and branch. On Dallas, they've come to bury J.R. Ewing, not necessarily to praise "the most infuriating, charming scoundrel I think I've ever known," as his most famous and long-suffering ex-spouse, Sue Ellen, describes the iconic oilman. "It's enough to drive a girl to drink," she jokes. Though it may not be entirely a joke.
