Began his career as an English-language announcer for a Spanish-language radio station in Chicago.
Served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam as a DJ for Armed Forces Radio from 1968-72.
Worked as a DJ in Kentucky, then as a weatherman in Nashville and Los Angeles, before being picked by Merv Griffin to host Wheel of Fortune.
Won Daytime Emmys for Wheel of Fortune in 1993 and '97.
