Social TV: Survivor Winner Parvati Shallow: Social Media Got Me Around the World For Free

In CBS' web series Around the World for Free, Parvati Shallow circumnavigated the globe for 100 days without a single dollar to her name, and she has social media to thank for her (mostly) good fortune.

Around the World Productions brought the idea to CBS after the first season had aired in 2007, and the network felt that it was a perfect fit. "We thought this was such a uniquely interactive opportunity because it authentically involves an audience," says Michelle Lynch, director of original programming at CBS. "It was different for us because we were new to the original content space, so it was the perfect property for us to jump on and run with."

Rob vs. Russell: Which Survivor Vet Will Become King of Redemption Island?

For two of Survivor's most infamous contestants, there's much more at stake this season than hidden immunity idols and the $1 million prize. In addition to allowing players a chance to return to the game after elimination via the new Redemption Island, Survivor: Redemption Island welcomes back two of the show's biggest villains. After first going head-to-head last year on Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains, "Boston" Rob Mariano and Russell Hantz will duke it out once again, this time surrounded by 16 newbies. So who will come out on top?  We compare stats to see what they need to do to outwit, outplay and outlast... read more

VIDEO: Survivor: Nicaragua's Jimmy Johnson Knows He's an Early Target

Jimmy Johnson may have two Super Bowl championships under his belt and a dream gig as a Fox NFL Sunday commentator, but the former Dallas Cowboys coach is looking to add a very different title to his resume: Survivor winner.

Survivor's Russell: I Am the Best

After his aggressive social game and knack for finding immunity idols without clues on Survivor: Samoa last year, Russell Hantz cemented his status as one of the biggest villains in Survivor history with his performance on Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains. Russell was a natural fit for the Villains team, but his aggressive tactics throughout Season 20 led to getting zero votes at the final Tribal Council. Hantz spoke with TVGuide.com about Parvati Shallow, Sandra Diaz-Twine and why the game of Survivor needs to be... read more

Survivor's Parvati: There is No Way I Could Have Played Without Russell

Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains runner-up Parvati Shallow holds the record for most days of any Survivor castaway in history. But those 114 days of game play (in Cook Islands, Micronesia and current season) also made her a big target, forcing her to align with Russell Hantz. Parvati's close ties with Russell may have helped take her to the end, but being associated with one of the game's biggest Villains ultimately cost her the $1 million prize, which went to Sandra Diaz-Twine. Shallow talked with TVGuide.com about how she knew Sandra was a serious threat, how the Villains outlasted the Heroes and what she really thinks of Russell... read more

Survivor Winner Sandra: Russell Doesn't Know How to Play the Game

To win Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains, Sandra Diaz-Twine had to last 39 days in the wild and beat 19 fierce competitors. But it turned out she didn't have to overcome any hesitance on the part of the jury to give the prize to a past winner. For the final two, jurors chose not only Diaz-Twine, a Pearl Islands winner, but also Parvati Shallow, who won Micronesia. One thing that helped them both: the unpopularity of third finalist Russell Hantz, who received exactly zero votes from his peers. Though she was listed as a Villain, Sandra scored points for a kind demeanor, as well as her flexibility. The day after becoming the first person to win Survivor twice, Diaz-Twine, 35, spoke with TVGuide.com about why the Villains were able to outlast the Heroes, how Parvati's strongest alliance cost her the title, and why Russell will never... read more
