There will be plenty of familiar faces when Last Comic Standing returns to NBC this spring. And, no, we don't mean comedian-turned-reality TV host Bill Bellamy. The show once again will scour the country to find funnymen and women in open casting calls. But this time, producers will replace regular judges with a revolving door of celebrity talent scouts. "I'm going to be nice and pregnant, so entertain me," quips Angela Kinsey, who will whittle down Los Angeles-area wannabes with The Office costar Oscar Nunez. "I tend to really love comedians who weave the fabric of their lives into their stand-up, because I think real life is always better than anything you can write!" Auditions for Season 6 will kick off on Jan. 29 at the Hollywood Improv. For more information, log on to NBC.com/Last_Comic_Standing. — Dana Meltzer Zepeda read more

Exclusive: Ellen, Office Accountants Make a Deal

Even as host of the most glamorous of Hollywood shows such as the Oscars and the Emmys, Ellen DeGeneres opted to sport beautifully tailored velvet or silk tuxedos instead of the more conventional gown. For that matter, it's been a very long time since fans have seen DeGeneres in a dress — but that may all change in January.A good friend of Deal or No Deal host Howie Mandel (who in turn has been a frequent guest on Ellen), DeGeneres will be his game show's first celebrity spokesmodel. That's right: DeGeneres will be one of the 26 briefcase-toting, elegant, sparkly dress-wearing women who may or may not be holding the million-dollar bag. "Ellen is a great supporter of the show and we were looking for our first celebrity model. Who better to do that than Ellen?" says Libby Hansen, NBC's vice president of alternative series and specials. DeGeneres' appearance will be shot on Nov. 9 and air sometime in January 2008.Ellen fans will get an early preview of the show, since DeGeneres wi... read more

Oscar Nuñez "Accounts" for The Office's Success

Oscar Nuñez, The Office

In the hilarious third-season premiere of NBC's The Office (Thursdays at 8:30 pm/ET), Oscar Martinez was unceremoniously outed by Michael, and subsequently awarded paid leave by Dunder-Mifflin to curb any litigious thoughts. In reality, the accountant's portrayer, Oscar Nuñez, took a leave from the show to exec-produce and star in the Comedy Central series Halfway Home. But now that he has returned to his cubicle, TVGuide.com decided to check in on the Cuban-born funnyman. TVGuide.com: When did the Office writers officially tell you Oscar would be gay?Oscar Nuñez: It was toward the end of the first season. At first, it started as a rumor. The actors started saying, "Oscar might be gay" when we'd read the scripts, read more

No Laughing Matter: Divorce for Office Star

If Oscar Nuñez comes off as a bit reserved in this coming Thursday's Interviews & Features Q&A with TVGuide.com, it's probably for good reason: Upon completion of the interview, the star of The Office called us back to explain that he and his wife Carla "are in the middle of a divorce right now." The actor added, "I haven’t really gotten it out there [in the press], but I guess I might as well now." — Additional reporting by Anthony Layser read more

January 18, 2007: Oscar's Return

Hello, Office fans. The Office drunk with the red hair here with all the Golden Globe news for Dunder-Mifflin fans. Do not mourn our loss the other night, friends. Do not. No, we did not walk away with a statuette. But we did walk away with the hearts of millions! At least that's what I tell myself. Everyone was so excited to see us there. Even real movie stars watch The Office. And how bad can you feel dolled up in a designer gown?!This week's episode is about Oscar's return ("The Return"). How ironic that the Golden Globes and "Oscars" are both in the same week! If I tell you what happened that day you would not believe it. I had a hectic day of hair and makeup. (In all honesty, I went to someone new, and I kind of felt like I looked like Phyllis Smith and Rashida Jones in last week's episode, when they drove out of the beauty parlor.) Beauty can be stressful, especially because I am getting used to Meredith's minimal documentary-style makeup. I wore a copper-colored satin dress b... read more

OZ IT AIN'T

Comedy Central has OK'd production on 10 episodes of Halfway Home, a new improv series about parolee housemates. Among the ex-cons is The Office's Oscar Nunez, who'll play a male prostitute. The show is tentatively scheduled to debut in 2007. Did I really just write an item about a new comedy and not include a joke? read more
