A wealthy heiress in need of a husband meets an Indian Doctor who foils all her attempts at a relationship.
Vibrant orange sunflowers. Rippling yelow grain. Trees bursting with white bloom. "The pictures come to me as in a dream," Vincent Van Gogh said. A dream that too often turned to life-shattering nightmare. Winner of Golden Globe and New York Film Critics Best Actor Awards, Kirk Douglas gives a fierce portrayal as the artist torn between the joyous inspiration of his genius and the dark desperation of his tormented mind. The obsessed Van Gogh painted the way other men breathe, driving away family and friends, including artist Paul Gauguin (1956 Best Supporting Actor Academy Award winner Anthony Quinn). Directed by Vincente Minnelli and saturated with the hues of Van Gogh's sea, field and sky, Lust for Lifecaptures the ecstasy of art. And the agony of one man's life.
A WWII film about an elaborate escape plan launched by the prisoners of Camp McKenzie, a POW camp for German soldiers in Scotland. When a Luftwaffe pilot mysteriously murdered in the compound, an Irish intelligence agent (Brian Keith) is sent to the camp to open an investigation. He discovers that the plan, engineered by the German captain (Helmut Griem), involves a pickup by a U-boat off the coast. In an intense, suspenseful, cat-and-mouse game--augmented by the return to the camp of the factionalism that fomented the Nazi upheaval in Germany--Keith allows the prisoners to escape in the hopes of capturing the U-boat. But his plan goes awry and all but two of the Germans will escape, leaving Keith to face disciplinary action...Based on the novel "The Bowmanville Break" by Sidney Shelley.
