ER veteran Noah Wyle is locked in as the lead in TNT's new sci-fi series from Steven Spielberg.
Wyle will play the leader of a group of soldiers and civilians that battle against an alien force, according to the network. The pilot opens shortly after the aliens have decimated the human population, and Wyle's group sets out to find survivors.

Noah Wyle will be back on TNT this winter in the latest high-adventure installment of the successful Librarian franchise, The Librarian: The Curse of the Judas Chalice. Other returning cast members Bob Newhart and Jane Curtin join newcomers Bruce Davison (X-Men, Knight Rider) and Stana Katic (Heroes) in a new conspiracy that leads Wyle to New Orleans to protect the Judas Chalice from falling into the hands of notorious vampire Prince Vlad Dracul. The first installment in the series became the No. 1-ranked movie on ad-supported cable in 2004, and the sequel placed among the top five cable movie telecasts of 2006. There's no series finale written and producers and cast aren't yet ready to sign off for good but if, as many predict, ER's County General closes its doors at the end of its upcoming 14th season, the NBC drama wants to lure back as many of its cast as it can. Noah Wyle (Dr. John Carter), who's popped in and out of the show for a number of years, is returning for multiple episodes, and there will be no running around in Africa this time. "He'll be in Chicago in the ER, interacting with all our people," executive producer David Zabel tells TVGuide.com. The doc is back to check out the Joshua Carter Center, a gift from his big-bucks family, as well as for a medical concern. In turn, ER is hoping to bring back Thandie Newton, who plays Carter's wife Kem.
