Jim continues to search for the reason why Rocky's friend T.T. Flowers was involuntarily committed to a nursing home. When Jim springs T.T. from the facility, the old man hightails it to his property, which greedy developers plan to snatch.

Rockford is forced to save his own hide when, somehow, both the mob and the feds come to the conclusion that he's in possession of a set of mysterious tapes once owned by King Sturtevant. One problem: Jim has no idea who King Sturtevant is.

Hired by a woman named Angela Perris to investigate the disappearance of her brother, Rockford runs afoul of a surly federal agent and finds himself accused of murder when a body turns up in the trunk of his Firebird.

What starts out as a simple breakdown in Great Blue Lake devolves into a town-wide conspiracy when Rockford finds himself grifted out of the $10,000 bond he was transporting and is named as the only suspect in a murder investigation.

Jim comes to the defense of his father when Rocky accidentally witnesses an illegal transaction between his old pal, Johnny Lo Salvo, and some shady truckers, unwittingly becoming the target of a ring of hijackers.

When Sgt. Becker and his wife, Peggy, get taken by a real estate scam involving a hotel they've just invested in, Jim teams up with Rocky, Angel and a charming children's author to bring the con artists down.

Following a run-in with two mysterious gunmen at the airport, Jim reluctantly agrees to protect his childhood pal from gangsters who are strong-arming him into selling his company. He later finds out that it's all connected.

Jim looks into a fatal plane crash that claimed the life of Steve Nelson and concludes the man may have faked his own death. Jim then begins following Steve's lover, Nancy, the woman who originally hired him to take on the case.
