Will Happy Endings get its happy ending and a Season 4 renewal?
That remains to be seen, but should you fail to "Save Happy Endings" like ABC wants you to, executive producer Jonathan Groff thinks they have crafted a Season 3 finale (Friday, 8/7c) for the kooky, GIF-tastic, ratings-challenged sitcom that would leave you, well, "happy." "Obviously, we want to go on, but if this is it, I don't think any Happy Endings fan would be disappointed," Groff tells TVGuide.com.
Fall TV 2013 Scorecard: Which shows are returning? Which aren't?
Find out what else you can expect from the back-to-back episodes, the latter of which features the wedding of Jane (Eliza Coupe) and Alex's (Elisha Cuthbert) heretofore unmentioned older sister Brooke (Stephanie March), what he really thinks of ABC's "Save Happy Endings" campaign, if USA will pick up the show and more.

We knew it wouldn't be all grins and giggles when three networks decided to stake out comedy ground on Tuesdays this season, cannibalizing the audience with too much of a quirky thing. Sure enough, the laughter ended last week for two of the night's more offbeat sitcoms: Fox's Ben and Kate and ABC's Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23, both abruptly if not unexpectedly yanked from the schedule.
If there's an upside, it's that we get more to love, at least for now, of Fox's underappreciated Raising Hope (8/7), now airing back-to-back episodes off and on for several weeks.

Happy Endings
2013 is definitely shaping up to be the Year of Penny.
Happy Endings' unlucky-in-love single lady's dreams will finally come true on Tuesday's episode (9/8c, ABC) when Pete (Nick Zano) pops the question. No, it's not a joke. What is a joke, though, is how the engagement goes awry, and Penny (Casey Wilson) gets engaged the only way she can: in a wedding dress.

Cougar Town is not, we repeat, not a show about cougars. So what is it about? That's the question facing some newcomers just now learning about the ensemble comedy now that it's become the subject of a persistent marketing campaign from new home TBS.
Winter TV Preview: Where we left off on Cougar Town and more returning shows
For those who missed the show's first three seasons, Cougar Town is really about Jules (Courteney Cox), a fortysomething alcoholic wine connoisseur who used to be married to lovable slacker Bobby (Brian Van Holt), but recently took the plunge again with her neighbor Grayson (Josh Hopkins). Jules has two best friends: the young and loud Laurie (Busy Philipps) and the icy, judgmental Ellie (Christa Miller). Ellie's whipped husband Andy (Ian Gomez) is Bobby's BFF, as is Bobby and Jules' college-age son, Travis (Dan Byrd), who kind of has a thing for Laurie. Whew!

Happy Endings fans have three reasons to rejoice! First, the show we lovelovelove is back to kick off its third season Tuesday night (9/8c, ABC). Second, the Season 2 DVD hits shelves today, as well, packed with a gag reel that is nothing short of a-mah-zing. And finally, we have the scene-stealing, Emmy nomination-robbed Casey Wilson talking about both, and she is kyute. Sah kyute.

Happy Endings
What triangle?
Happy Endings may have ended Season 2 with Dave (Zachary Knighton) having shared a moment with longtime pal Penny (Casey Wilson) and ex-fiancée Alex (Elisha Cuthbert), but there will be nothing ambiguous about any other their statuses when Season 3 premieres Tuesday (9/8c, ABC).
"We never saw Dave and Alex as a couple since the show obviously [started with her leaving him at the altar], so we really like the idea of exploring that relationship now," executive producer Josh Bycel tells TVGuide.com. "We kind of stumbled upon it, but it was actually better that we were able to have a season and a half to help create real, distinct characters for Dave and Alex, so it ... makes them a [more fun] couple together."
