Weekend Review: About a Boy, Fisher Sneak Peeks, Downton Finale

This week's gold-medal question: Can NBC reverse its spotty track record when it comes to using the ratings boost of the Olympics to launch new programs? (Remember the Summer 2012 debacle when the network interrupted the flow of London's Closing Ceremony to inflict Animal Practice on an unwilling captive audience?)

The news is better this weekend, during the closing nights of the Games. The comedies getting a sneak peek are considerably more entertaining than Animal Practice — what wouldn't be? — and they won't air until after that night's Olympics packages are finished.

Nelson Mandela Released From Hospital, Still in Critical Condition

Nelson Mandela has been discharged from the hospital, the Associated Press reports.

The former South African president, still in critical condition, was released Sunday from the Pretoria hospital where he had been hospitalized for the last nearly three months. He was taken by ambulance to his Johannesburg home where he'll receive intensive care.

John Travolta and wife Kelly Preston have donated about $10,000 to the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund during a visit to South Africa, according to The Associated Press.

Travolta, Preston and daughter Ella Bleu, 10, spent time with the children whom the foundation supported over the weekend.
