Neil Patrick Harris Shows Off His Fairy Shoes!

Neil Patrick Harris by Jean-Paul Aussenard/

What's better than seeing NPH riding a unicorn while trippin' on shrooms? How about NPH donning little white wings and singing about footwear as he plays The Shoe Fairy on Sesame Street? Turns out Harris is all about belting out the tunes these days (also starting in Joss Whedon's Dr. Horrible Sing-Along Blog), and in this PBS skit, the How I Met Your Mother star sings about his high-tops, polka dot flip-flops and every shoe under the sun they could find to rhyme. Exclusive: First Look at Joss Whedon's "Dr. Horrible"

Neil Patrick Harris in Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along screen grab courtesy Mutant Enemy Productions

Two of my favorite things in all of show business— musical comedy and Joss Whedon — combine in the funniest, freshest TV special of the summer, which happens to be available only on your computer starting in mid-July.I had the great good fortune late last week to get a sneak peek at all 42 minutes of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, Whedon's stylishly scrappy, lovably cheesy and insanely tuneful return to the form for which he showed such incredible aptitude in the classic "Once More, With Feeling" episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.Dr. Horrible, written during the writers' strike and filmed in six days this spring "on favors and waivers" by a crew of longtime Whedon loyalists, will be streamed for free in what Whedon cheerfully calls an "Internet miniseries event" on the show's official website ( in three chapters. Part 1 will be available Tuesday, July 15, with the following segments (each roughly 14 minutes) available July 17 and 19. All three parts... read more

Neil Patrick Harris Goes Back to Doogie Days

How I Met Your Mother's Neil Patrick Harris is taking things back to his boy-genius Doogie days in this new commercial for Old Spice. In the ad, a white-coat-wearing NPH is an over-the-top "former make-believe doctor" on a mission to spread the word that chronic body odor can ruin lives. Take it from Doogie because, after all, he "used to play a doctor — for pretend." read more

Video Q&As: I Hit the How I Met Your Motherlode!

The night was Awe. Some.Nearly the entire How I Met Your Mother gang (minus Jason Segel, who is busy shooting a movie) congregated at McGee's in NYC — aka the inspiration for the sitcom's McClaren's. Cozying up with each in a booth (and maybe the occasional adult beverage...), I sought out scoop on all things Mother. Here, I will embed the video of Neil Patrick Harris, who ponders the Barney-Robin hookup and their possible future, the Britney aftermath and more. Links to my sit-downs with Josh, Cobie, Alyson and a pair of producers will follow. I hope you enjoy, because it was one of my most fun outings here ever!More from the Mother gang:• Josh Radnor on Sarah Chalke, fans getting Lost-like crazy and more.• Alyson Hannigan on dissing me for three years straight(!), Lily and Marshall's next hurdles (a baby, maybe?) and more. • Cobie Smulders on dressing to kill, getting "tipsy" to play Robin Sparkles and more.• Exec producers Carter Bays and Pamela Fryman on.... read more

Cheers: The Password is... Legendary!

Cheers to Neil Patrick Harris for his winning guest shot on Million Dollar Password. The How I Met Your Mother star outshone even the too-bright set of CBS' new primetime game show. Not only did Harris make it to the bonus round twice — putting Rachael Ray to shame — but he smiled politely when host Regis Philbin referred to him as "Doogie," tossed off his killer Reege impression and flashed that Harold & Kumar grin when faced with the words "chit" and "pot." And if Barney ever needs a new wingman, I'd say bartender "E-rock" is the man for the job. Too bad Harris can't be on this show every week!• Share your own raves and rants about other shows on the Reader Cheers & Jeers discussion board.• We may feature your Cheer or Jeer on or in TV Guide magazine! read more

Monday Night Bromances

Robert Sean Leonard and Hugh Laurie in House by Chris Haston/NBC Universal/Fox

House sharing custody of Wilson with Amber? Ted and Barney on the outs after Horndog Stinson admits he broke the “bro code” by trysting with Robin? Maybe I was just in a good mood with so much great TV to choose from on Monday, but I got a kick last night out of the twists and turns of these legendary TV bromances on an eventful How I Met Your Mother and the first new House in ages. (On a similar guy theme, watching the geek geniuses of CBS’s The Big Bang Theory—which I’m reviewing in the new issue of TV Guide this week—fight over the actual time machine from the 1960 The Time Machine movie cracked me up as well.)But seriously. With all due respect to Jeremy Piven on Entourage (which did not have its best season last summer), but how does Neil Patrick Harris not win the supporting-actor comedy Emmy after last night’s sensational episode? The drama of the Ted-Barney fight was about as powerful as that punch to the groin, and his pain (also emotional... read more
