Forget the mother! (For now anyway.) How I Met Your Mother will finally answer the series' second-biggest mystery on its Season 7 finale: Who is Barney marrying?
Since last season's closer, in which Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) was revealed to be the groom at the wedding where Ted (Josh Radnor) meets the titular mother, Barney ...

Cobie Smulders
Be warned, How I Met Your Mother fans: You may want to have some Kleenex nearby for Monday's episode. "I think it's fair to say that the episode is different than anyone had imagined coming into it," co-creator/co-executive producer Craig Thomas tells TVGuide.com. "It's one of those where while we're shooting it and editing it that you see people tearing up. It's very funny, but it's very emotional too. The very end of the episode seems like it's made a lot of people cry, but it's a good cry." The episode picks up moments after Robin (Cobie Smulders) told Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) that she's pregnant and it is chock-full of more surprises, Thomas says — including, as the logline teases, some "bad news" for Robin. What could that be? Read on to see Thomas' hints about this revelation, why he and Carter Bays wrote the pregnancy, and what's next for the rest of the season.

Nazanin Boniadi, Neil Patrick Harris
Who was Nazanin Boniadi's childhood crush? None other than Neil Patrick Harris.
"I've loved him since I was little. I'm not even joking! I've had a crush on him forever," she tells TVGuide.com. "So to be playing his girlfriend now is surreal."
How I Met Your Mother boss: Can Barney and Robin ignore their chemistry?
When Boniadi landed the part of Nora on How I Met Your Mother last year, little did she know that it would lead to a recurring gig with no end in sight for now — she has "no clue" how many episodes she'll be in this season — never mind the fact that Nora, and not Robin (Cobie Smulders), would be the one to force Barney (Harris) to reevaluate his womanizing lifestyle.
"In real life, too, women love to be that girl who tames the bad boy," Boniadi says. "It's always fun to play that character, especially with Barney Stinson, who's so beloved. You get to act opposite Neil. He's phenomenal. He raises everybody's game. To work opposite him, you have to be at your best and you become better and better as you work with him."
The General Hospital alum got a crash course in slapstick acting — a Harris forte — on Monday's episode when Barney and Nora's planned ...

How I Met Your Mother
Time has always been a major — if not the — component of How I Met Your Mother. But in Season 7, it will be about timing.
"That's one of the central questions this season," creator/executive producer Carter Bays tells TVGuide.com. "Love and romance to some degree is a game of musical chairs. At some point, the music stops and you're with someone. You don't know at the beginning of the game who you're going to end with. Hopefully it ends up being...

How I Met Your Mother
Whoever thought Barney Stinson was the marrying kind? But more importantly — who is he marrying?
How I Met Your Mother's season finale opened up a whole new mystery while still evading the original one regarding the identity of the titular mother. But creator/executive producer Craig Thomas assures TVGuide.com that Season 7 will offer answers and even more changes for our beloved quintet. Robin gets a new love interest for one (hello, Kal Penn! Goodbye, Michael Trucco!), Marshall gets a new job, of course, and "Ted Mosby, Architect" will finally be a great pickup line. Don't believe us? Keep reading...

How I Met Your Mother
For a show that plays with time so frequently, there's one time-jump How I Met Your Mother hasn't employed — until now.

"This is the first time in the history of our show we're doing a finale that is not set in May. We jump ahead to September, basically to the beginning of next season," co-creator and co-executive producer Craig Thomas tells TVGuide.com. "Ted tells his kids every minute of September to May and then says, 'Oh, some stuff happened in the summer, but the next September...' so it's nice this time that we cover the summer in our season finale. Hopefully when people see the finale, they won't be super-confused."
By September, Ted (Josh Radnor) will be ...

How I Met Your Mother
In 2007, ABC gave Lost a multiyear pick-up and set an end date for the series. Last week, CBS renewed How I Met Your Mother for two years, but made no mention of a series finale for the mystery-laden sitcom.
How I Met Your Mother gets two more seasons
The order is not surprising: Mother is a solid hit, the cast was already contracted through eight seasons, and Carter Bays told TVGuide.com in the fall that he and co-creator/executive producer Craig Thomas had plotted out the rest of the series beyond its current Season 6. But now that the pick-up is official, will the next two seasons also be its last two?
Bays answers our burning questions about the show's future, why he doesn't feel pressure to introduce Mrs. Ted Mosby, and what's in store for the rest of the season.
