The Secret Circle
Move over vampires: It's time for witches to shine.
Thursday marks the premiere of The Secret Circle, a fish-out-of-water tale about an orphaned girl who discovers she's part of a secret coven of young witches who are coming into their own and discovering their powers.
For those who haven't read the L.J. Smith novels the series is based on — and even if you have, the Kevin Williamson and Andrew Miller-produced CW show will be quite different — we asked the actors portraying the six witches of the coven about what's brewing with their characters. Let's meet the witches:
Fans of L.J. Smith's The Secret Circle novels will be pleased to learn that elements of her trilogy will live on in the new CW series. But just like with The Vampire Diaries, the producers have taken liberties in the show's creation.
An example? The Secret Circle (spoiler alert!) kills off someone who survived the entire book series within the first five minutes of the premiere. While that won't be the only difference from the source material, executive producer Kevin Williamson says they "hope to be as true to the story as we can."
Logan Browning has joined the cast of CW's new witchy series The Secret Circle, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.

Ioan Gruffudd and Sarah Michelle Gellar
The CW has released video previews of three of its new shows, including Sarah Michelle Gellar's drama Ringer, the supernatural series Secret Circle and Rachel Bilson's Southern drama Hart of Dixie.
Fall 2011 TV Scorecard: Which shows are returning? Which aren't?
From the outside, Horatio Caine's season-long manhunt for escaped convicts on CSI: Miami made for a nice plot engine to drive the season.

But for co-executive producer Barry O'Brien, aspects of the journey have allowed Horatio (David Caruso) to do something far more important: He was finally able to deal with the murder of his wife, Marisol (Alana De La Garza). "This season was the season of closure with Horatio and Marisol, for sure," O'Brien says...
Thomas Dekker admits it took a lot for him to return to TV, but what better reason than to play a warlock?
"I haven't done TV in a couple years now," he tells TVGuide.com. "It's a grind, it's a lot of hard work, but it's really rewarding and the show [Secret Circle] is great -- and I get to be a male witch."
Based on the popular book series of the same name by L.J. Smith, Secret Circle follows a young witch (Britt Robertson) who is the key to a battle between good and evil. Vampire Diaries' Kevin Williamson will executive-produce the CW pilot that also stars Gale Harold and Natasha Henstridge.
The complete pilot report: Kiefer Sutherland, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Wonder Woman and more!
TV Guide Magazine has learned exclusively that Natasha Henstridge of Species and Eli Stone fame is joining CSI: Miami for the Season 9 finale as Renee Locklear, an undercover agent who is about to cause a stir in more ways than one.
"We meet her in the course of searching for this missing fugitive and she [initially] appears as another possible witness, maybe a possible suspect," says co-executive producer Barry O' Brien. "We bring her in for an interrogation and she reveals that she's actually an undercover agent for the Secret Service."
Expect Henstridge's character to strike some sparks with indestructible team leader Horatio Caine ...
Natasha Henstridge has been cast in CW's The Secret Circle, TVGuide.com has confirmed.
Based on the three-book series from The Vampire Diaries author L.J. Smith, the series follows Cassie (Britt Robertson), a young witch who moves back to her mother's hometown and may be the key to a battle between good and evil.

THE PILLARS OF THE EARTH (Friday, 10/9c, Starz)
The epic miniseries wraps as Jack returns to Kingsbridge to finish work on the cathedral, but not without more threats and attacks from the villainous likes of Regan, William and the ever-scheming Waleran. Expect the body count to rise before all is said and built...

Was Catherine Bell busy? Natasha Henstridge (Eli Stone) will join JAG alum David James Elliott in Impact, a two-part TV disaster movie about a dwarf star (or, to be politcally correct, "little person star") that strikes the moon and thus wreaks havoc on Earth. James Cromwell is also onboard, leading me to suspect that a talking pig may factor into the world's salvation. The $14 million miniseries began shooting last week, says Variety, and also stars Benjamin Sadler and Florentine Lahme.
