Crippled by a torn meniscus, Nancy O'Dell watched the Dancing with the Stars premiere from the sidelines instead of waltzing up a storm on the floor with Tony Dovolani. Does Nancy O'Dell have a leg up on her Dancing with the Stars competition? You certainly seem to think so, but the Access Hollywood hostess has her doubts. "I don't know if I'm a good dancer or not!" she tells TVGuide.com. "I'm so nervous." O'Dell, who will release a pregnancy book, Full of Life: Mom-to-Mom Tips I Wish Someone Had Told Me When I Was Pregnant, on April 14, is paired with Tony Dovolani on Season 8 of the ABC hit, which premieres March 9 at 8 pm/ET. Jon Hamm by Craig Blankenhorn/AMC
What if they gave an awards show and nobody came? That heretofore rhetorical question has been answered twice in the last week, with unspeakably unwatchable results.First came CBS comically corny and pitifully rated Peoples Choice Awards last Tuesday. With its ceremonial and traditionally well-attended all-star party scrapped by the writers strike, this new and unimproved version (with winners accepting in awkward taped segments) was emceed by poor Queen Latifah from what looked like a drag queen's bunker. I only made it through the first commercial break of that sad excuse for a show before bailing. But I had no choice but to slog through all of NBCs historic (for all the wrong reasons) telecast Sunday of what the network called The Golden Globes Winners Special. Though only an hour long, it felt much longer than the usual three-hour glamourfest as Billy Bush and Nancy ODell struggled to vamp their way through what can only be thought of as ...

Access Hollywood host Nancy ODell has a new shopping partner potentially at least her 4-month-old baby daughter, Ashby Grace. "It was nice to add a little girl to the pack," she told TV Guide Thursday (Oct. 25) night at the Choose Your Cause event at Fred Segal Santa Monica. ODell, who has two stepsons (Tyler, 11, and Carson, 7) with husband Keith Zubulevich, explains, "I have my sports partners. I love to play football with my stepsons, but now Ive got a shopping partner."Leaving home to go to work in the morning has been a challenge, ODell admits. "Its really tough. I see her little smile in the morning and it takes me an extra half an hour to get out the door every day because I keep going back in."ODell, 41, quickly got back to prepregnancy weight by "working out every single day during my maternity leave. I was running every day and I felt so good."While the raging Southern California fires did not affect the home she and Zubule...

All right, Ill admit its kind of odd hosting a behind the scenes show (inFANity) of a behind the scenes show (Access Hollywood), then writing a behind the scenes take (this blog) all about what goes on behind the scenes. Just think of this as the most inside, exclusive, behind the scenes, first look (and any other histrionic broadcasting phrase that comes to mind) youve ever seen. Youre about to experience history, people!Having worked in several newsrooms around the country -- KGNS in Laredo, Texas, KGBT in the Rio Grande Valley, WAVY Norfolk, KTTV Los Angeles, and KCBS same city -- I know how a good manager can affect what you do and ultimately what people see on the air. Having said that, the reason the gorgeous, perfectly coiffed hosts (hair is real important there as it should be) on Access Hollywood seem to come through the television screen when they speak to you is because of the boss. The Queso Grande. The man who shouts Action! more than...
