Folks like me "love" music, we just don't make a study of, you know, the actual lyrics. Perhaps the most famous example is "Excuse me while I kiss this guy," one misunderstanding of the words to "Purple Haze." Not one but two — two! — game shows debuting this week were inspired by the fact that people with a song in their heart don't always have the correct lyrics in their head. The first one out of the gate is NBC's The Singing Bee, premiering tonight at 9:30 pm/ET and hosted by Joey Fatone, known both for his singing (as part of 'N Sync) and his dancing (on this past season of Dancing with the Stars). TVGuide.com invited Fatone to explain why his "complete

After 18 seasons and 400 episodes, Fox's The Simpsons (Sundays at 8 pm/ET) has attracted more than 350 celebrities to offer their voices to animated doppelgangers. Some have played themselves (Steve Buscemi, anyone?), some new characters (Reese Witherspoon as Rainier Wolfcastle's daughter, for instance), some old characters (Kiefer Sutherland and Mary Lynn Rajskub, who reprise their roles from 24 on May 20) — and in one instance, a mix (Elizabeth Taylor played herself and voiced Maggie's first word). I've never been a fan of the whole "pop/rock guest star" sweeps stunt on dramatic or comedic TV shows — don't we see enough of Britney? Well, if the guest star was somebody like 30 Seconds to Mars' Jared Leto, maybe I would have a change of heart. But I swear, it's because he's also a good actor. (Cough)When I saw this week's Ghost Whisperer previews, I was excited that this episode would have a musical twist. (I'm in a band myself, so I like stories that revolve around music.) However, the cynicism kicked right in at those ominous words: "Guest-starring 'N Sync's J.C. Chasez!" Are you kidding me? But in all fairness, Mark Wahlberg was once a New Kid, and now he's a great actor and acclaimed producer (Entourage). So I elected to open my mind and just let this week's episode roll... er... rock. Wow, "Joshua Chasez" is a decent actor. Who knew? Now, the Ghost Whisperer team was smart to keep him out of the spotlight and stick to a smaller role. If he wasn't a very good actor, we...

As American Idol's "elite eight" await their fate, TV Guide calls a time-out to ask — and get answers to — some of the more-popular-than-ever contest's burning questions. Such as:
1. Is it us, or are Paula and Randy trying to be tougher this season?Seems so. "People aren't stupid," says American Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, explaining that Simon's brand of brutal honesty has rubbed off on both of his less-acidic sidekicks. "Paula and Randy are not just going to sit there and say, 'Oh, you're wonderful' when they know some of the singers aren't." So that explains why Pollyanna Abdul keeps getting tongue-tied: She's just trying to find the sweetest insult possible without having to "dawg" anyone!
2. W
