Facing eviction by his snooty tenants' board, Niles throws a party in an effort to get back in their good graces. During his cash-draining divorce proceeding, Niles was forced to sublet his luxury apartment at the tony Montana. Now that the divorce is final, Niles is anxious to move back home. Frasier manages to get the tap-dancing tenant, Dr. MacLowery, to move out two months early, but the damage has been done: angry about the doc's dancing, the tenant's board threatens to rescind Niles' lease. Desperate to hold on to his fabulous apartment, Niles enlists Frasier, Roz, Daphne and Martin's help in throwing a special reception for the board, whose members are older and more conservative than Niles. Yet when Niles' pet bird expires after consuming some hors d'oeuvres, Daphne fears there's something wrong with the food. To stall the group while more food is prepared, Frasier suggests they play a murder-mystery game. Unfortunately, an elderly board member named Mr. Probst dies of natural causes during the game. Certain he'll be blamed and kicked out of the Montana, Niles tries to cover up the death while Martin secretly calls one of his buddies in the police department to come and retrieve the body. Happily, Frasier is able to distract the guests while Probst's corpse is removed, and the board members assure Niles that he's welcome to stay at the Montana. watch
