Norman’s (Norman Wisdom) aim in life is to become a window dresser for a department store. But between all his hirings and firings he is more often than not outside looking in. One day he helps an old lady leave the shop with a large suitcase, only to be told later that the woman is a notorious shoplifter who has successfully walked off with large amounts of their stock. Given Norman’s apparent inability to achieve anything, when the store is robbed, everyone is surprised when he successfully deals with the situation.
