Milos Forman Fast Facts:
  • Both parents died in Nazi concentration camps: father at Buchenwald; mother at Auschwitz.
  • Originally intended to pursue his filmmaking career in Prague, but was forced to relocate to France after Russian troops invaded Czechoslovakia in 1968.
  • First English-language film was the 1971 comedy Taking Off.
  • Returned to Prague to film Amadeus (1984). The movie was shot almost exclusively in Czechoslovakia and marked Forman's first return to his home country since the 1960s.

  • Has two sets of twin sons born 34 years apart. Andrew and James, born in 1999, are named after Andy Kaufman and Jim Carrey, the subject and star, respectively, of Forman's 1999 film Man on the Moon.
