On Roz's birthday, Frasier decides to surprise her with dinner for two at Toscana, Seattle's most romantic restaurant. Unfortunately, Roz already has a date for her birthday, so Frasier asks Niles to join him at Toscana, but Niles is going out with Maris. To Frasier's chagrin, Daphne and Martin are also booked with dates. Unable to 'scare up' a date of his own, Frasier listens to his answering machine, hoping there's a message from someone he can take to dinner. After discovering that his only message is a wrong number from a woman named Laura, Frasier de cides to prove to him self that he's not ups et about being single, and goes to Toscana...alone. Once there, however, Frasier is surrounded by happy couples, who make him feel more lonely than ever. When Frasier gets home, he finds another message from Laura, who mistakenly thinks she's leaving flight information for her sister. Realizing that Laura will be stranded -- and hoping fate might lead him to a love connection -- Frasier heads to the airport to meet her. Laura turns out to be the woman of Frasier's dreams in every way but one: she's married.
