Captain Kidd -- In this unhistorical account, Captain William Kidd is already a clever, ruthless pirate when in 1699 he tricks the king into commissioning him as escort for a treasure ship from India.

Set in Warsaw, Poland, during and after the German invasion of 1939, this comedy-drama mixed dedicated Nazis, ham actors, and earnest pilots and resistance fighters into a surprisingly (and, in 1942, uncomfortably) entertaining topical satire.

The son of a nobleman, engineer Ferdinand de Lesseps travels to Egypt and, while there, conceives of a canal which will connect the Mediterranean and Red Seas.  In an effort to attain the backing of the French President, Napoleon, he enlists the help of the woman he loves, Eugenie (Loretta Young).  Now the mistress of Napoleon, she agrees to help him, but only under the condition that he temporarily dissolve the government, a deal which opens the way for Napoleon to become the new emperor and Eugenie his empress.

Oscar-winner James Cagney ("Yankee Doodle Dandy") stars in this WWII adventure about a mail flyer who joins the Canadian Air Force for fun but finds himself having to prove his worth when he goes to war. Co-starring Dennis Morgan ("The Great Ziegfeld") and Brenda Marshall ("The Sea Hawk"). Directed by Oscar-winner Michael Curtiz ("Casablanca," "Yankee Doodle Dandy").
