Life as a House -- Kevin Kline stars as George, who is diagnosed with cancer. To fulfill his dreams, he begins rebuilding an old house in hopes that it will fix his relationship with his son and ex-wife.

Academy Award-winner Kevin Kline ("A Prairie Home Companion," "A Fish Called Wanda") stars as George Monroe, a divorcee who is diagnosed with terminal cancer. Hayden Christensen ("Jumper," "Star Wars" episodes I - III") was nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance as Sam, George's contemptuous teenage son, who spends his time doing drugs, engaging in small-time prostitution and avoiding his dying father. In a last-chance effort to fulfill one of his life's dreams, George, an architect, begins rebuilding an old house. He enlists Sam's help in the hopes that the project will enable him to fix his troubled relationship with Sam, and with his ex-wife, whom he abandoned.

After suddenly losing his longtime job and discovering he's terminally ill, George attempts to reconnect with his estranged and troubled son. They spend the summer they have together building a new house, in the process rebuilding broken relationships.

When a man is diagnosed with terminal cancer, he takes custody of his misanthropic teenage son, for whom quality time means getting high, engaging in small-time prostitution, and avoiding his father.
