  • Worked for the single-A Pittsfield Mets of baseball's New York-Penn League after college, while pulling an overnight shift as a postal worker. Also worked for the New Orleans Saints for no pay while attending law school.
  • Refined his work ethic and developed an aggressive management style from working with the Jets under Bill Parcells, who called Tannenbaum back from a 30th-birthday vacation with his girlfriend for an early-Sunday meeting to rework salary-cap strategy.
  • Promoted to general manager of the Jets at age 36 in 2006 after aiding in the hiring of head coach Eric Mangini, a close friend of Tannenbaum's from their days on the Cleveland Browns staff under Bill Belichick.
  • Engineered five trades in his first four NFL Drafts that yielded solid players (Darrelle Revis, Mark Sanchez, David Harris, Dustin Keller, Shonn Greene) who helped lift the Jets to the 2009 AFC Championship Game.
  • Acquired several players with checkered off-the-field records during new head coach Rex Ryan's tenure, beginning with WR Braylon Edwards in the 2009 season and continuing with DB Antonio Cromartie, WR Santonio Holmes and rookie RB Joe McKnight in the off-season.
