Cougar Town Team on TBS Move: "It Was Really Refreshing" to Be Embraced

What a difference a year makes.

A year ago, Cougar Town was waiting (and waiting) to start its third season on ABC after two acclaimed but low-rated seasons. ABC had held the show for midseason and didn't announce a return date until after eight months off the air. Now going into its fourth season (beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 10/9c) — its first on TBS — the show's return is no secret thanks to a constant stream of commercials and a... read more

TNT Orders Six Episodes of Frank Darabont's Period L.A. Noir Drama

The ambitious L.A. noir drama developed by The Walking Dead's Frank Darabont has landed a series order at TNT. The cable network has ordered six episodes of the untitled show, which stars Walking Dead alum Jon Bernthal as Joe Teague, an ex-Marine turned LAPD cop during the city's rough-and-tumble 1940s. read more

Summer TV's Hits & Misses

It was a summer that won't be remembered fondly, at least by the broadcast networks. Despite a flurry of new shows, from CBS' Dogs in the City to ABC's Glass House, there wasn't much to crow about — at least until NBC's Summer Olympics ratings juggernaut came along. Cable fared better, launching new hits like A&E's Longmire and TNT's Perception and opening events like History's Hatfields & McCoys to big numbers. Here are some of this summer's highs and lows. read more

Cougar Town Boss Bill Lawrence on the Season Finale, Moving to TBS and Killing Big Carl

Our favorite wine-guzzling cul-de-sac crew is headed for some major changes on Cougar Town — and we're not just talking about the recent passing of Big Carl (R.I.P old friend!) Tuesday's hour-long season finale (8/7c on ABC) will see the gang migrate west to Napa for Jules (Courteney Cox) and Grayson's (Josh Hopkins) wedding. But will they actually tie the knot?

Behind the scenes, the episode marks the comedy's last hurrah on ABC before it moves to TBS for Season 4. The change also includes a new showrunner who will take over the day-to-day duties from co-creators and executive producers Bill Lawrence and Kevin Biegel. But fans should rest assured: Lawrence and Biegel aren't going anywhere. Lawrence talked with TVGuide.com about the wedding-themed season finale, the move to TBS, his involvement next season and why Big Carl had to go... read more

Network Q&A: TBS/TNT's Michael Wright On Why He Saved Cougar Town And Plans For Next Season

Newly promoted TNT/TBS president/head of programming Michael Wright made a few new friends when he sealed a deal to pick up fan favorite comedy Cougar Town from ABC. After a quick negotiation, TBS ordered 15 episodes of the show, which will premiere its fourth season next winter. The network will also start airing Cougar Town repeats. Wright, who previously saved Southland after NBC canceled it, says there will be no changes to the sitcom. Meanwhile, over at TNT, Wright says he's eager to change the perception that the network's dramas only dabble in "self-seriousness or earnestness." Frank Darabont's L.A. Noir isn't ready to be ordered as a series, but Wright expects to air it on Sundays, where the network is specializing in genre shows like Falling Skies.
