Bumbling Inspector Jacques Clouseau (Peter Sellers) is at it again...for the fifth time. This time he's pitted against Douvier (Robert Webber), a business tycoon who runs an international narcotics ring. Douvier decides that his "dumped" mistress, Simone (Dyan Cannon), knows far too much about his illegal enterprises and arranges for her demise. When Clouseau stumbles on the scene and accidentally saves Simone's life, she becomes his grateful accomplice. On his way to a rendezvous with Douvier, Clouseau is mugged by a transvestite, who makes off with his clothes in his car. The transvestite is the one who drives into Douvier's trap and gets blown away! Clouseau is pronounced dead. Attending his own memorial service, disguised as a priest, is Clouseau...and he's far from finished.

This wacky romantic comedy finds theater mogul Scott Raymond (Jack Watling) challenging psychiatrist Dr. Malcolm Nettel's (John Bentley) claim that he can create a "perfect" child by hypnotizing the soon-to-give-birth mother beforehand. Once the bet is in motion, Raymond convinces an actress to impersonate a pregnant woman, thus ensuring that the result goes his way. Unfortunately, the woman falls for the doc, which considerably changes the game.

Doctors Burke and Hare leave the confines of St Swithins for the world of general practice, stopping off on the way as patients at the Foulness Anti-cold Unit. Hare then takes up a position as junior in a well-healed G.P.'s surgery while Burke continues to sow his doctorial wild oats.
