Project Runway is shaking things up for Season 12 by bringing back a mystery contestant from a past season and adding interactive components for fans.
Alison Brie as Annie, Jim Rash, Yvette Nicole Brown
Here's something you've probably never heard anyone say while watching NBC's Community: Yeah, that could happen.
And so it is this week, with an episode (8/7c) by Oscar-winning screenwriter/goofball extraordinaire Jim Rash (Dean Pelton), in which Troy and Abed go too far — what else is new — in their obsession with cheesy body-switching movies. Before you can say Freaky Friday, Troy is adopting Abed's dislocated mannerisms while Abed channels Troy's giddy swagger. Donald Glover and Danny Pudi are, as usual, a joy to watch, even if the message behind their madness is delivered with a heavy hand reflective of this uneven transitional season. And who could blame Rash for giving himself some of the best bits, as the Dean imagines he has pulled off his own body switch with his numero-uno obsession, the unamused Jeff Winger (Joel McHale).
Under the familiar heading of "shows gone too soon," ABC's robust, though at times berserk, military thriller Last Resort is the only failed freshman series from this season's underwhelming fall crop that I would argue deserved more of a chance — or at least a tryout in a more appropriate time period — to catch on as it figured out its sprawling narrative. With the great Andre Braugher and the appealing Scott Speedman leading a strong and (on the island at least) exotic cast, this action drama about a rogue nuclear sub standing up against a homeland gone haywire is unlike anything else on network TV. Which made it a risk, though one well worth taking, and at least ABC let the producers complete the initial 13-episode order, which now comes to a too-early, but let's hope satisfying, end (Thursday, 8/7c).
Zac Posen and Heidi Klum
Project Runway All Stars made its final cut last week, but there's a new all star in town and he's sitting at the judges' table. American fashion designer, Zac Posen — who has previously been a guest judge — makes his debut as a full-time judge — this Thursday on the first-ever teams edition of Project Runway (9/8c, Lifetime). Posen replaces Michael Kors (he'll appear on the season finale) joining Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia and Tim Gunn, along with a slew of guest judges for Season 11. What else can viewers expect to walk down the catwalk? Posen, 32, gives us the scoop.
Melissa Fleis, Christopher Palu, Dmitry Sholokhov, Fabio Costa
After last week's fake-out challenge in which none of the designers were eliminated, the final four paraded their collections at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in the Project Runway Season 10 finale on Thursday.
New York City fans of Project Runway got a treat on June 15 as the reality showed kick off its 10th season with its first runway challenge in Times Square.
The 16 contestants each had to create two complimentary outfits. One ensemble was designed at home; the other created at Parsons The New School for Design in one day with only $100.
