Met his wife, Susan, when they both were training at the National Theatre School of Canada in the late '60s.
Applied to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in the '60s before becoming an actor.
Received a Genie award from the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television in 1992 for Best Supporting Actor in the movie Solitaire.
Is part owner of a kayak company.
Is also a successful voice-over artist; voice credits include the video game Mass Effect 2 (2010) and numerous programs for CBC Radio.
