Will it finally happen this time? General Hospital heroine Brenda Barrett (Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo) — whose past wedding days have all been disasters — is scheduled to marry crime lord Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) on February 18. Right now things don't look so good for the duo. Sonny is being haunted by prophetic dreams that something will go heinously wrong at the ceremony. His venomous ex-wife Carly (Laura Wright) plans to ruin the big day by revealing that Brenda has a secret past — and a child — with Sonny's son Dante (Dominic Zamprogna). And supervillain The Balkan (Daniel Benzali) also intends to be a party pooper — he's all set to kidnap the bride. Despite all this, head writer Bob Guza assures us that vows will be exchanged...
Viewers have suspected it for months, now General Hospital is finally coming clean. On the January 31 episode of the ABC soap, high school senior Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) will confess to a secret that's been haunting him since he was imprisoned last spring — he was brutally raped by a fellow inmate. ...

Best Soap: The Bold and the Beautiful
How can one show be both gloriously uplifting and dirty as hell? That's the marvel of B&B! After back-to-back Emmy wins as best soap, this CBS serial should make it three in a row thanks to its daring lung-cancer plot involving big mama Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery) who nearly chose death over life. Episodes with Stephanie visiting the homeless on L.A.'s Skid Row, and giving them a chance to tell their life stories, made for important and transcendent TV.
It's the confrontation of the century! Okay, so I exaggerate but not by much. On October 22, General Hospital fireball Carly Jacks (Laura Wright) will come face to face with the woman who's been making her life a living hell. That would be Brenda Barrett (Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo), the desperately needy international supermodel who recently returned to Port Charles and has all of Carly's men (Jax, Sonny, Jason) uncontrollably obsessed. But don't assume mantrap Brenda has the upper hand here. "Carly will eventually get the keys to the kingdom," GH head writer Bob Guza tells TV Guide Magazine. "She will wind up with the ammunition that can completely destroy Brenda in Port Charles." But let's not get ahead of ourselves. We spoke with the fantastic and woefully underappreciated Laura Wright — not one damn Emmy nomination ever! — to get her take on the long-awaited ...
Steve Burton and Vanessa Marcil
You could say she's arguably the soap world's most popular female star — but there's really no argument about it. Nobody stirs up a fan fuss quite like Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo, who returns to General Hospital Aug. 11 as drama queen Brenda Barrett. The actress, who recently wed CSI: NY regular Carmine Giovinazzo, hasn't been seen on GH since 2003 ...
General Hospital's Maurice Benard (Sonny) and his new "son," Drew Garrett
Apparently it was not a gunshot wound that landed Michael Cornithos in a coma. It was a debilitating case of Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome.
Following months of speculation, General Hospital has recast Michael Quartermaine Corinthos — and ...
Maurice Benard and Lisa LoCicero
Wasn't Lisa LoCicero's arrival on General Hospital as ballsy Brooklyn babe Olivia Falconeri utterly fantastic? Clearly, the show's top star, Maurice Benard (Sonny), thinks so. In their first scenes together last week, the duo set off some wildly intriguing sex sparks — which makes Benard's lack of chemistry with current leading lady Megan Ward (Kate) all the more obvious and disappointing.
GH is making a huge mistake if it doesn't team Sonny and Olivia now.
General Hospital's Maurice Benard and Sarah Brown by Ron Tom/ABC
In Part 1 of our exclusive first sit-down with Sarah Brown, the three-time Daytime Emmy winner revealed what led her back to General Hospital and the concerns she had about doing so. Here in the conclusion of our Q&A, Sarah previews Claudia Zacchara's first encounter with Sonny, the inevitable face-off between "two Carlys" and the length of her new Port Charles visit. Be sure to take in every bit here, as the "lead" (that is, the truly juicy stuff) sort of got buried at the end. But oh, is it worth it. Matt MitovichTVGuide.com: Of course, Laura Wright is now playing Carly, so you are creating a new role....Sarah Brown: I'm going to be playing Claudia Zacchara. She is the eldest daughter of Anthony Zacchara.TVGuide.com: Played by Bruce Weitz....Brown: Woohoo, I can't wait to work with him! TVGuide.com: Is Claudia totally a tough cookie or does she have a soft spot somewhere?Brown: Oh, she has a soft spot, because she's being played by me. [Laughs] I can't fathom playing a ...
General Hospital's Sarah Brown by Ron Tom/ABC
A funny thing happened in the six-plus years since Sarah Brown left General Hospital the role of Carly, the hell-raising, rollerblading tomcat she created back in 1996, was recast. A lot. With Laura Wright now embedded in the role, when Brown resurfaces in Port Charles on Jan. 31, she will have a brand-new vixen to bring to life Claudia Zacchara, the prodigal daughter of mob boss Anthony. Here in Part 1 of TVGuide.com's exclusive sit-down with Brown, the three-time Daytime Emmy winner shares how her GH return came about and reveals why she is excited to be back. Matt Webb MitovichTVGuide.com: When did the talks to return to GH first start up?Sarah Brown: Oh, I want to say about five months ago. It was a really interesting happenstance. TVGuide.com: Was it a call from [ABC Daytime president Brian] Frons or...?Brown: No, it was nothing like that. First, I haven't seen Maurice [Benard, Sonny] or anybody from the show except for Tava [Smiley, ex-Chloe] and St...
Bruce Weitz by Steve Granitz/WireImage.com
Jeez, will this guy please show up already! For the last several weeks, the characters on General Hospital have been talking nonstop about Anthony Zacchara, a mobster so scary his mere name makes Port Charles crime boss Sonny Corinthos (played by Maurice Benard) shiver like a Chihuahua. On Oct. 19 we'll finally put a face to the reputation when Zacchara hits the air, and he'll be looking just like Bruce Weitz! The actor, remembered for his terrific, Emmy-winning run as Det. Mick Belker on Hill Street Blues, tells me he said yes to GH "before we even discussed the money the role is that good. Of course, after this incredibly big buildup, any actor is going to be a letdown, except maybe Marlon Brando!" Zacchara plans to take over Sonny's territory and he's sure to play dirty. "He's a homicidal maniac who goes way beyond Tony Soprano in craziness," Weitz says. "Zacchara is totally out of his mind." Reporting by Michael Logan
