There has been some real-life drama lately surrounding Criminal Minds. While the CBS procedural has yet to be renewed, several cast members have received final contract offers, but two stars have turned them down, Deadline reports.
Mathew Gray Gubler
Matthew Gray Gubler is at it again. The Criminal Minds star directed Wednesday's episode — his second of the season and fifth overall — and if you've seen his past ones, you know what to expect.
"It's another very peculiar ...
Thomas Gibson, Joe Mantegna
If you found yourself rewinding to the beginning of last week's Criminal Minds episode after it finished, then you did exactly what the producers thought you'd do.
The episode closed with another ominous shot of the BAU's season-long unsub/stalker The Replicator going through photos of the team's closed cases. The final slide wasn't a photo, but a video of Blake (Jeanne Tripplehorn) teaching her linguistics class from the episode's opening, shot from the students' seats in the lecture hall.

"Rick Dunkle wrote that episode ... and he pulled the director aside and said, 'We can't see that side of the classroom because people are going rewind ...
Ken Olin, Thomas Gibson
Thomas Gibson was prepared for the worst. The Criminal Minds star makes his series directorial debut with Wednesday's episode and had a way easier first day than he expected.
"I was hoping for some of [the actors] to give me a hard time, but no one did!" he tells TVGuide.com. "But [joking aside], everyone was great and extremely supportive of me, which certainly made the whole experience even better."

It's an experience that's been years in the making. Gibson, who's the show's second cast member to direct after Matthew Gray Gubler ("he's very good," Gibson says), had always wanted ...
Matthew Gray Gubler
Wednesday's Criminal Minds is the fourth episode Matthew Gray Gubler has directed — and the episode itself might not have even been made if he hadn't directed his first three.
"The whole impetus behind this story is very bizarre and when the network heard that I was directing this one and they knew that the last one I did was slightly strange and worked, they gave us the go-ahead," Gubler, who plays Reid, tells TVGuide.com. "They were like, 'We trust your writing. We trust Matthew's directing and we're going to let you do this crazy thing. Good luck.' That was the sign-off. I felt I had a little favorable ...

What's next for Cam on Bones now that we know about her relationship with Arastoo? — Elizabeth
ADAM: There will still be a great deal of secrecy around the relationship. "Cam would like this to be a secret because it's slightly unprofessional to be having an affair with one of your underlings," creator Hart Hanson tells us. "She decides the fate of the interns even more than Brennan does. So it's an uncomfortable position for her, but she's managing to keep it compartmentalized." Or at least she is until it impacts her relationship with her daughter. "It has an effect on Michelle and that's the next story we tell," Hanson teases. "What secrets do you keep and for what reason?"

Criminal Minds has not one, but two ongoing mysteries this season — and showrunner Erica Messer didn't even realize it.
"I didn't really think about that until now!" she tells TVGuide.com. "But I guess it's true. We've got a good mystery with Reid's girlfriend and a scary mystery with the season-long unsub. We didn't really plan for it this way, but they both just sort of worked out for this season."

Indeed, producers have been pitching a season-long unsub story line to CBS for years to no avail. "I think they were just more willing this time," Messer says. "Whereas before, other shows were based on that premise on the network. The Mentalist is based on...
Jeanne Tripplehorn just wants you to like her — or her Criminal Minds character, at least.
The Big Love alum will return to TV Wednesday on the CBS drama (9/8c) as new BAU member Alex Blake, and all she can think about is what will happen after the episode is over.
"The fan base is huge for this show and I am honestly nervous about what they will think of Alex," she tells TVGuide.com. "A show bringing somebody new in on the ...
Criminal Minds executive producer Erica Messer wants to assure you that Jeanne Tripplehorn's Alex Blake will not stir up trouble in the BAU.
Criminal Minds scoop: Reid is getting a girlfriend!
Tripplehorn will make her debut on the Season 8 premiere, filling the void left by Paget Brewster's Emily Prentiss, who exited in the season finale. And though Messer previously described Alex as a "threat" to the team, she clarifies that it's merely a case of a newbie joining a tightknit group.
"Anytime there's a very close coworker environment, as we have here, it's hard," Messer tells TVGuide.com. "There's just a natural hesitation to accept, but in that friendly way. She certainly doesn't have an ulterior motive or anything."
