It's Not E.B. Being Deadwood's Farnum

William Sanderson, Deadwood

On HBO's Deadwood, which premieres its third season this Sunday at 9 pm/ET, amid all the badasses and noblemen, weasely E.B. Farnum does his best to stay out of Swearengen's crosshairs while keeping watch over (and occasionally swindling folks at) the Grand Central hotel. William Sanderson, who plays Farnum, spoke with TVGuide.com about adding the daft Deadwooder to his résumé; and teased what's ahead in the new season.

TVGuide.com: I had to laugh at the pitch your publicist e-mailed over, talking about your career playing "simpleminded backwoods men and snide ne'er-do-wells."
William Sanderson:
Well, there is a reason for that, a read more

ER How nice to finally see the...

ERHow nice to finally see the episode that was supposed to be on last Thursday. Was it worth the wait? Yes, and I'll, of course, tell you why. Laura Innes as Kerry Weaver has been one of my favorite actresses and characters ever since she began on this show. Kerry can indeed be a bitch, but we're often able to see her other layers, like tonight with those tender moments of true friendship between Kerry and Abby. But Kerry's appearances have been few and far between the last few seasons, so I was really gearing up for this episode. I was so glad she finally decided to go ahead with the hip-replacement surgery, especially after she said, "I'm a disabled person. What else would I have left?" What an effective way to end the hour by having her count down from 100 after receivi read more

SNL Vet Weighs In on the New Buzz

Seth Meyers, Saturday Night Live

Despite seeing presidential hopeful John Kerry (and thus his portrayal) get snubbed in 2004, Seth Meyers has never stopped being a major part of the mix at NBC's Saturday Night Live (Saturdays, duh, at 11:30 pm/ET). As he prepped for this weekend's show, Meyers — now best known for his bits as haranguing hubby Dan Needler and the Appalachian Emergency Room receptionist, as well as for his impressions of Hugh Grant, Sean Penn and Anderson Cooper — found a few minutes to talk to TVGuide.com about SNL's plans for guest host Matt Dillon, the "real" Natalie Portman and the crazy-delicious digital-shorts read more

Joan Melissa LIVE at the Academy...

George Clooney

Joan & Melissa LIVE at the Academy Awards5:30: I'm so glad my colleagues over at the channel have decided to go blue for the red carpet. Setting the tone for the evening, Joan Rivers begins with a slightly disturbing scene in which she spreads 'em for Matt Dillon in Crash and groans a lot. And she warns us that there are many more such scenes from the nominated movies to come. Next she gives a nod to Isaac Mizrahi's infamously presumptuous Golden Globes coverage at rival E!. "I would never be so presumptuous!" she declares while she pokes Lisa Rinna in the boob. Instead of groping her interviewees, she'll be using cards to indicate whether they are wearing underwear and/or have real breasts. This'll be interesting. 5:33: Joan gives her own thank-you speech tailor-made to offend her entire crew: "We are color-blind here at TV Guide. Right, black person?" Then she fills the time read more

Hello. My father and I ...

We are Family: Kristy McNichol and castmates

Question: Hello. My father and I disagree: I thought Kristy McNichol was just in movies until Empty Nest, but he seems to think she was in a television series prior to that. Is that true? If so, what was the name? Thank you for your help.

Answer: Sorry, Holly, but the homily holds true in this case: Father knows best. Teen superstar Kristy McNichol made her first splash as a nationally known celeb playing 13-year-old Letitia "Buddy" Lawrence on ABC's groundbreaking Family in March 1976. And her story resembles that of other child stars: Fame without a real-life perspective is a tough way to grow up.

"Everybody wants a piece of you," the actress — who did commercial work at 8, Love, American Style at 9 and was a Family regular at 13 — told TV Guide read more

THIS 'N' THAT

WB is premiering Felicity: An American Girl Adventure on Nov. 29. Golly, I hope Mike Ausiello knows this TV movie has nothing whatsoever to do with Keri RussellMatt Dillon has agreed to marry Kate Hudson — in the upcoming comedy You, Me and Dupree. Is Apprentice's Tara Dating Matt Dillon?

Last week's Apprentice saw New Yorker Tara Dowdell's downfall at the hands of her Net Worth teammates. As fans will recall, her plan for a community-friendly mural promoting PlayStation 2's Gran Turismo 4 flopped big-time. Tara tried to blame John and Audrey for not telling her more about Turismo's concept, but Donald Trump placed the blame squarely on the 28-year-old government bureaucrat's shoulders. Here, she calls TVGuide.com to defend her actions — and to set the record straight about the persistent rumor that she's dating a certain brooding Single actor. TVGuide.com: You sound pretty upbeat for...Tara Dowdell: ...a firee? I don't dwell on it too long. TVG: So Donald Trump showed up in Harlem, praised your mural, dissed team Magna's and then, all of a sudden, you were out. What happened? Tara: Everything just read more
