No matter how many inn reservations Luke Danes made, no matter how much cool stuff he packed for a romantic honeymoon, no matter how long he stood there with those puppy-dog eyes begging for forgiveness, nothing called off his quickie wedding plans faster than Lorelai?s one line: ?I slept with Christopher.? Even I was equally blindsided by her flat, emotionless admission. But that?s probably because I was watching the entire episode on the edge of my couch, judging every line, analyzing every shot, hoping our girls would be handled with care by new show-runner David Rosenthal. But when the screen went dark, and the credits flashed, my eyes immediately welled up. (Yeah, yeah, I?m a big softie. You guys knew that already.) But you know what? Those tears were really, really good news. The show is going to be OK. Actually, it?s going to be way, way better than OK. David got it down right out of the gate! The real Lorelai never minced words when she was hurting, so of course she was goin...

Question: Wait a second. If Matt Czuchry is jumping to Veronica Mars (Ausiello Report 8/2), does that mean he won't be on Gilmore Girls anymore?
Answer: Not to worry. He's only doing one episode of Veronica Mars.

Question: Dude, that GG/VM Logan-crossover scoop? Best. Ever. Where am I sending you that case of Snapple?
Answer: Sure, now you want to send me Snapple. Where were you two weeks ago when I was lying on the floor of the Ritz Carlton twitching like Whitney in rehab. But I'm not bitter. And to prove it, I'm going to share with you what Rob Thomas had to say about the Oct. 24 crossover, which, as many of you pointed out, isn't technically a crossover since Matt Czuchry isn't playing Logan Huntzberger on Mars. (Cue me rolling my eyes and making a "W" with my fingers.) "The network suggested it, as [happens with] many of these things. But it's one of those times that I'm happy about the suggestion. I'm excited that it's a real actor… rather than a Top Model — not that I think our Top Models h

Brace yourselves the Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars universes are about to collide! I just got a smokin' hot tip that Gilmore guy Matt Czuchry will cross over to Veronica Mars on Oct. 24 but not as Logan Huntzberger. It's better: He's playing Charlie Stone, half brother to none other than Logan Echolls! Can you believe it? Logan is playing Logan's brother! I love it!

Here's my interview with David Rosenthal, conducted immediately following today's Gilmore Girls press-tour session. Luckily, he was much more forthcoming during our little Q&A than he was on the panel. Ausiello: What can you tell me about the first six episodes?David Rosenthal: Obviously, the repercussions from the end of last season [will play out]. That's something that is not going to just disappear. It's a major shift, a major change in everybody's lives. It affects not just Lorelai and Christopher and Luke, but Rory as well. There are a lot of consequences, and we fully intend to explore them the positive and the negative. It's a big deal, not just for the fans, but for us, the writers and producers of the show. Ausiello: Fans are holding out hope that maybe Lorelai and Christopher didn't sleep with each other.Rosenthal: No, no, no. That's a pipe dream. Those were two grown-ups who woke up in bed together after spending the night together.Ausiello: Is Matt Czuchry of...

3:40 pm: Damn wi-fi!! It went down just as the session started. But we're back up and running now.3:43 pm: Got the Luke-Lorelai question in. Dave didn't say anything specific about how he planned to repair the relationship, just that fans should "stay tuned."3:50 pm: Lauren Graham is clearly optimistic about GG post-Palladino. 3:53 pm: Lauren left the door open to doing another season. Alexis didn't address it.3:55 pm: Yikes! A reporter just asked David about Heidi Klum, and Lauren jumped to his defense. "It has nothing to do with anything. Next!"3:59 pm: David is being extremely tight-lipped about future plotlines.4:00 pm: Lauren concedes that things are more "open door" with David, but she doesn't want that to be seen as a diss on Amy and Dan. 4:01 pm: If this is the final season of Gilmore Girls, David says he will ask Amy how she intended to end the show.4:02 pm: Alexis is going to see how this season goes before deciding on another year.4:05 pm: Bad news, Logan fans: David says...

Question: You're killing Rory-Logan fans with all the suspense about the season finale! Can you say anything other than their goodbye is a "tearjerker"? Do we have any reason to be happy or hopeful for the future?
Answer: You have every reason to be hopeful. As you'll see next Tuesday, it's pretty obvious that their final scene is not so much "goodbye forever" as it is "goodbye for the hiatus." Besides, I already told you that Matt Czuchry is going to be back next season. Here's another finale tidbit: Rory has another memorable run-in with Logan's dad, only this time it's Papa Huntzberger who knocks some sense into her.

Question: So now that Matt Czuchry is a Gilmore regular, does this mean Rory will settle down with Logan?
Answer: I hope not. Once she gets this current misadventure and flirtation out of her system, even if it lasts all season, let's hope Rory will come to her senses and return to the real world. Jared Padelecki and Milo Ventimiglia were regulars before this, and they're history, which is only fitting given the long and twisting arc of Rory finding herself. I also hope she and Lorelai patch things up soon. I'm all for dramatic conflict, but this is getting to be a drag.

Even before making his Gilmore Girls debut last week, Matt Czuchry knew very well how we would react to his character, Yale sophomore Logan. Not only does the smart-mouthed Ivy Leaguer push the buttons of America's sweetheart, Rory (Alexis Bledel), but his snobbery is rivaled only by that of her persnickety grandmother, Emily.
"I could tell people were going to hate me on sight," the baby-faced 27-year-old shares with TV Guide Online. "Logan is completely unapologetic. He'll go off in the summer and crash Daddy's yacht into a buoy, and his dad will fly him away in a helicopter so he won't have to deal with any of the consequences.
"Obviously, this guy is 180 degrees different from Rory and from her past boyfriends, so how could the audience not be kind of spun out when they see him come on? But," he adds with the snicker of a born pot-stirrer, "that's what we're going for."
To make matters worse for the newbie — or, on seco
