Heath Ledger by Kevin Mazur/WireImage.com
Federal prosecutors have dropped their plan to pursue an inquiry into Heath Ledger's death. Prosecutors had been working with the DEA on their investigation into how Ledger obtained the painkillers that led to his overdose, and if they were acquired illegally. According to the AP, a law enforcement official said Wednesday that the probe was dropped "because they don't believe there's a viable target." The source remained anonymous because no charges had been filed. The decision comes on the heels of Mary-Kate Olsen's request for immunity before testifying about Ledger's death. The actress asked for legal protection in exchange for speaking voluntarily to authorities. She was the first person called even before 911 by masseuse Diana Wolozin when Ledger's body was found on Jan. 22, and has since only issued a short statement about his passing that read, "Heath was a friend. His death is a tragic loss." Olsen's lawyer said in a statement Monday that she "had nothing to do ...
Bob Saget by Ian White/Comedy Central
When Comedy Central roasts Bob Saget (and good!) on Aug. 17, overseeing the Bob-BQ is none other than his Full House kin, John Stamos. "Him being the roast master is kind of odd, but moving," Saget tells TV Guide. "Its like an emotional thing." With the "roastee" being "Danny Tanner," you have to expect that a fair amount of digs will be made at the Olsen twins especially the dirty kind. That's precisely what transpired, and Saget wasn't entirely OK with it all. "Anybody who talks about my TV kids that upsets me the most," Saget tells New York Post. "I am very protective. I love them very much." The now-22-year-olds were in fact invoked by Stamos, who said during the taping, "The whole time Bob and I were doing Full House, he was also hosting America's Funniest Home Videos.... His entire job consisted of saying 'Take a look at this' which is what he used to say to Mary-Kate in her dressing room."With comments like that, do you think Saget's roasters went ...

Federal investigators have a grand jury subpoena that could force Mary-Kate Olsen to testify in their investigation of Heath Ledgers fatal drug overdose, but are negotiating with her attorney to try to get her to talk voluntarily about how he got two of the painkillers that contributed to his death, a law enforcement official told TVGuide.com. As first reported Monday by The New York Post, the former Full House actress has requested immunity from prosecution in return for her testimony about The Dark Knight star. The law enforcement source, who spoke to TVGuide.com on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing, said it was unclear why Olsen is seeking immunity. Though Ledger had several legal prescriptions, the investigation is focused on how he got OxyContin and Vicodin, for which he did not have prescriptions, the official said. "Despite tabloid speculation, Mary-Kate Olsen had nothing whatsoever to do with the drugs found in Heath Ledger's home or his body, ...
Josh Peck and Olivia Thirlby by JoJo Whilden/Occupant Films/Sony Pictures
With The Wackness, writer/director Jonathan Levine has emerged as one of the first, few voices of that generation sandwiched between X and Y: The one that had Biggie and De La, Tribe and the Wu as its own soundtrack. Set in the throbbing, sultry New York summer of 1994, The Wackness not only explores the coming of age of its characters, but also that of the culture, as New York adjusted to Mayor Giuliani and a new brand of hip-hop hit the streets.
In the intertwining stories of high-school grad Luke Shapiro (Josh Peck) and Dr. Squires (Sir Ben Kingsley), Luke's middle-aged therapist, Levine captures the simultaneous anxiety, hope, disappointment and happiness that adult life foists on us again
It's hard to decide what was better Mary-Kate Olsen revealing dirt about famed reality villain Spencer Pratt from her high school days, or Letterman point-blank calling him a worm and truly meaning it. She was promoting her new Ben Kingsley movie The Wackness when the conversation took a turn to Pratt. Turns out the media-whoring star played soccer on Olsen's high school team and had a few anger issues. Yeah, definitely wouldn't pin him someone who would storm off the field when he didn't get his way.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are writing a book about fashion called Influence. The coffee-table volume, in stores this fall, will include new photos of the pair by photographer Rankin and essays by the authors about the photographers, designers and artists who have inspired them. This list is said to include Bob Colacello, Terry Richardson, Jack Pierson and Christian Louboutin, but, before they go to press, I'd like to make a few other suggestions of people who, at least to me, appear to have influenced the pair's distinctive look:1) Bob Marley (le chapeau)2) the old-timey hobo who lives by the railroad yard3) my nana4) E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial5) Elton John (eyewear only) Inspired yet? I can't wait for their joint book party with Eminem. I hope there's rumaki! Mickey O'Connor
