Howard Dean is digging in.The former DNC Chairman appeared on MSNBC's Hardball on Wednesday, getting into a heated health care debate with both host Chris Matthews and senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA).Dean defended his "kill the bill" position espoused a day earlier on the network's Countdown with Keith Olbermann, saying that good things about currently proposed health care reforms are outweighed by "goodies" to insurance companies. "It turns out that insurance companies, in the fine print, can charge 300% more for older folks than they can for younger folks," said the physician and former Vermont governor."Democrats aren't tough enough," continued Dean, setting his sights on his own party. "If we were the Republicans right now, this bill would be done through reconciliation."Matthews took issue with reconciliation process and insisted that it could destroy congress. On Wednesday evening, "Hardball" audiences were treated to the spectacle of former Vermont Governor and DNC Chair Howard Dean sparring with Senator Mary Landrieu over the current state of the health care bill. To translate all the crosstalk, Dean's larger complaint was that the Senate has "taken away our choice" by eliminating the public option and the possibility of a Medicare buy-in. Landrieu countered with a rather teabaggy accusation that Dean wants to destroy the insurance industry, and insisted that the president never promised or promoted a public option, so the "choice" that Dean insists was taken away never really existed in the first place. As the wildfire approaches, the authorities issue a mandatory evacuation for the town. Nancy must get her family to pack their belongings and head to an evacuation center, where the rest of the town, including Doug, Dean and Isabel, have already gathered. Also affected by the order are Conrad, Heylia and Vaneeta, who must take what they can from the growhouse before the authorities come through. When the law does arrive, it begins a series of interrogations, beginning with Sullivan Groff. Sullivan leads them to Celia, who is arrested in front of everybody at the evacuation center.
