Martie Maguire Fast Facts:
  • Performed at bluegrass festivals as a child and won numerous awards for her fiddling skills.
  • Along with sister Emily Robison, bassist Laura Lynch and guitarist Robin Lynn Macy, founded country-singing group the Dixie Chicks in 1989. Lynch and Macy eventually departed the group and were replaced with singer Natale Maines.
  • Met her husband Gareth when he was the best man at the wedding of his brother Shane to Kim, Natalie Maines' sister.
  • Created a new band, Court Yard Hounds, with her sister in 2010.
  • Plays the mandolin (both acoustic and electric) and the fiddle.
