Andy Samberg's latest (if a bit protracted...) Saturday Night Live digital-short gem, a ballad directed to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has been pulled from NBC.com, the Peacock's official YouTube channel and other sites where it had surfaced, reportedly because it did not clear a musical sample from the group Aphex Twin, says NewTeeVee.com. The clip featured Samberg, with an assist from Maroon 5's Adam Levine, serenading Fred Armisen's (sometimes dress-wearing) dead ringer for the Iranian official.

The first CD of Saturday Night Live performances in nearly 10 years will be sold exclusively at Target beginning Sunday, says Reuters. Live from SNL! features 11 tracks from the past four seasons, including tune croons by Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, Maroon 5 and the Foo Fighters. (What is "foo," by the way? Always wondered.) Anyone looking for Ashlee Simpson's "live" performance need simply cue up any of her prerecorded CDs.Plans are being made for a separate compilation of R&B/hip-hop SNL performances, as well as a DVD counterpart.

This year's Fashion Rocks special, airing Sept. 7 on CBS and hosted by Entourage's Jeremy Piven, has added Grammy faves Mary J. Blige, Maroon 5 and Chad Kroeger to its already-impressive playlist of performers. The New York Daily News reports that Jessica Simpson may come clean about her crumbled marriage to Nick Lachey in a no-holds-barred heart-to-heart with Diane Sawyer. While an ABC News rep tells the paper, "Diane has interviewed Jessica in the past and would welcome the opportunity to sit down with her again," Simpson's spokesperson insists the blonde bombshell has "no plans" to rehash the romance with any journo. What's more, her rep tells the News that an US Weekly cover story about Jess cavorting in carnal ways with Maroon 5's Adam Levine are "not true. Jessica is a single girl."
