Dean Cain by Jemal Countess/WireImage.com
Broadway legend Ben Vereen has been tapped to guest on Grey's Anatomy this fall. In his episode, tentatively scheduled to air on Oct. 4, he'll play a burn victim. If we're lucky, a singing, dancing burn victim. (It's Ben Vereen, for crying out loud!)Find more on this Grey's news here. First Christopher Reeve, now Dean Cain is guesting on Smallville. The onetime star of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman will appear in the fall season's fourth episode as a baddy named Dr. Curtis Knox. As in knoxious. Although Steven Bochco's new TNT legal drama doesn't have a title, it's certainly packed with big names: Jane Kaczmarek, Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Gloria Reuben have all signed up. Kaczmarek will play a wacky judge; Gosselaar, a public defender; and Reuben, his boss.Six Feet Under's Mathew St. Patrick has joined fellow All My Children alum Abigail Spencer in NBC's neighborhood-watch-group pilot, Backyards and Bullets.

This episode added more intricate designs in the spider web that is John from Cincinnati. I have to say, right now I can't help but feel a little entangled, but I hope to stand back and admire the beauty when all is said and done. The complexity of the character interaction certainly makes this show fun to watch as the many seemingly unrelated (but definitely related) events keep building toward whatever climax Milch has planned for us. Here are some things I enjoyed about this episode:Dwayne mentioned to Butchie that his website had 1,244 hits in the past 24 hours and referred to it as the "halo effect." Yes, this is a widely used term used to define the carryover popularity between two closely related things (or in this case, people), but I'm guessing it was inserted into the script for obvious reasons. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy

The latest pilot updates, from our friends at the Hollywood Reporter and Variety: Kirstie Alley has collared the title role in The Minister of Divine, Fox's take on the Britcom The Vicar of Dibley. Martin Henderson (The Ring) will play Brad to Jordana Brewster's Angelina in ABC's Mr. & Mrs. Smith. (If you are dating either of the leads, please think very carefully before splurging on the Valentine's gift.) Brian White (Stomp the Yard) is Kyle in ABC's Football Wives. Lee Pace (The Good Shepherd) has landed the lead, as a man who can bring the dead back to life with but a touch, in ABC's Pushing Daisies. Mark-Paul Gosselaar will star opposite Janeane Garofalo in CBS' public-defenders comedy. Cole Hauser will star in K-Ville, Fox's New Orleans-cops drama. Colm Feore is the police-department captain in ABC's Judy's Got a Gun. That '70s Show's Kurtwood Smith is a justice in Supreme Courtships, Fox's look at a half dozen clerks and judg...

Question: Commander in Chief scoop?
Answer: If the show returns for a second season — a prospect that looks iffier with each passing day — don't count on Mark-Paul Gosselaar being back. And you'll see why in the season (or series) finale.

With all the behind-the-scenes turmoil during Commander in Chief’s freshman (and potentially only) season (Thursdays at 10 pm/ET on ABC), you’d think Roseanne had been named president. For a show to fall from Golden Globe-winning hit to on-the-bubble underdog in a single year is pretty remarkable. But that’s what's happened.
When Commander launched last fall, it was a glossy, entertaining melodrama about the turbulent adjustment to White House life for Mackenzie Allen (Geena Davis) — a glamorously and defiantly Independent vice president — and her young, telegenic family.
The mix of domestic and political drama was just different enough

Geena Davis, Commander in Chief
The big news last October: ABC pulled a shocking switcheroo, replacing Rod Lurie with Steven Bochco as show runner for Commander in Chief (Tuesdays at 9 pm/ET), which had debuted to impressive approval ratings, aka Nielsens. The big news today: ABC has announced that Chief will temporarily step down on March 7 to make room for the new comedy Sons & Daughters. Can the acclaimed Geena Davis-as-president drama survive another hiatus and retain the popular vote?
Bochco, for one, believes that "hiatus" need not be a four-letter word, given the right circumstances. But first, a bit of background on Chief's cha

Question: I'm loving Commander in Chief. Any good spoilers?
Answer: Expect some fun with Dickie and Jayne in early '06 when Mark-Paul Gosselaar introduces himself to Natasha Henstridge and promptly asks her out on a date.

Commander in ChiefNaval-base closures! Mentally challenged women on death row! The triumphant return of Zack Morris! I'm already exhausted, and that's just the teaser. The Steven Bochco effect truly gets underway this week, as Mark-Paul Gosselaar joins the cast — and even earns that fancy-schmancy "with" credit. Not quite as good as the "and," but still pretty darn cool for a Bayside High grad. Not to sound ageist, but I think we really needed the likes of young, hip, smooth-talking media consultant Dickie McDonald to bridge the gap between the First Kids and the Grown-Ups-in-Charge. Of course, I say that and Mac goes and asks her mother to move into the White House. Now if we could just get a newborn in there somehow…. Hey, maybe Becca'll get herself knocked up! Then we'

Ever Carradine on Commander in Chief
C.J., you know we love ya, but there's a shiny new spin doctor in the White House, and she's being played by Ever Carradine on ABC's Commander in Chief (Tuesdays at 9 pm/ET). As Kelly Ludlow, she puts the best possible face on Mackenzie Allen's scrutinized presidency, all the while fielding furtive glances from the first son and lending her ear to the first gentleman. Carradine, whose previous long-term series gig was as the girl-toy of Sela Ward's ex-husband on Once and Again, chatted with TVGuide.com about life in TV's "other" West Wing.
TVGuide.com: I totally remember you as Once and Again's Tiffany. She was such a sad little… what's the wo

Question: What's the story behind the abrupt departure of Rick Schroder from NYPD Blue? All I heard was he quit. I thought he did a good job transitioning from child star to adult actor. Did he prove it to himself and felt he had nothing more to gain from remaining in the role?
Answer: As is the case with any of these casting changes in TV Land, there are the public reasons and the private ones, Jill, and usually the only people who can tell you the difference are those directly involved.
In the case of NYPD Blue, the official reason Schroder, who came on board in Season 6, gave for leaving was the heavy shooting schedule and how much time he spent away from his family. The tabloids cited unnamed sources who claimed the real reason was that Schroder thought the show's producers were angling to replace him when they brought in another former child star, ex
