Marilu Henner Fast Facts:

Mother, Loretta Henner, was President of the National Association of Dance and Affiliated Arts (NADAA).
Studied dance at the Illinois Ballet Company before going into theater.
At age 18, starred in a local production of Grease. Two years later, dropped out of the University of Chicago to tour with the show's national company.
In 1974, made Broadway debut in the musical production Over There!
Breakout sitcom role was Elaine Nardo on the popular sitcom Taxi (1978-1983).
Hosted short-lived, syndicated talk show in 1994, titled Marilu. That same year, she and Jim Jerome penned her autobiography By All Means Keep on Moving.
A proponent of healthy living and good parenting, Henner has authored several books on the subjects: Marilu Henner's Total Health Makeover (1998); The 30-Day Total Health Makeover (1999); I Refuse to Raise a Brat: Straightforward Advice on Parenting in an Age of Overindulgence (1999).
Met husband Michael Brown in college while he was dating her roommate. In 2004, Brown proposed to her from a hospital bed.
