Jeers: You Call That Dancing, Marie?

Marie Osmond by Carol Kaelson/ABC

Jeers to Marie Osmond for providing the most surreal moment in Dancing with the Stars history — and that's saying something. For her freestyle number, the long-shot finalist grotesquely made herself up to look like a wind-up doll and performed a bizarro routine Bruno Tonioli aptly described as "Baby Jane meets the Bride of Chucky." (Osmond lamely explained that she's a doll designer and dedicated the performance to collectors.) All I can do is paraphrase "Start Me Up," the Rolling Stones song that accompanied the debacle: She made this grown man cry.• Read and react to Bruce's opinions on Criminal Minds, Nip/Tuck and more!• Share your own raves and rants about other shows on the Reader Cheers & Jeers discussion board.• We may feature your Cheer or Jeer on TVGuide.com or in TV Guide magazine! read more

A Mediocre Finale Night

I must say I thought I'd be more pumped after the finale, but I wasn't too wowed by most of the performances tonight. My Helio's final dance definitely made up for it, but he and Mel didn't give the Marie fans any reason to switch from the dark side. I think Mel may have lost the competition tonight. Her cha-cha was ok but that freestyle was not good at all. She looked like Marie trying to do a latin dance. Awkward! Maks basically danced around her. I was shocked that her hip-hop moves were so lackluster. I don't think it helped that the house band butchered their song, "The Way I Are". If I were Timbaland, I'd bust into that ballroom and scream. They tried to mimic the robotic voice in the song but ended up sounding like Ned from South Park. I disagreed with the score she received. It was not a dance worth a 27.When the judges picked the samba for Marie, I was excited. I thought they would lob her a waltz but when they picked her downfall (which is pretty much any latin dance), I w... read more

And the 10's Just Keep On Coming!

I'll admit, after the ballroom round, Marie had me thinking I should be backing her for the third spot in the finals. Then she did her mambo and I remembered why I wasn't. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't as polished as it should be. She still manages to look spastic when she needs to be looking flawless. Then I saw Jennie's cha-cha and I really knew I was right to want her in the finals with Mel and my Helio. Her technique is superior to Marie's and, despite her lack of confidence at times, she still carries herself better while dancing. I don't know how to explain it, something doesn't look right when Marie tries to do a latin dance. She is the most entertaining, as Len said, but I don't think it's enough to win this competition. Regardless, I don't think neither Marie nor Jennie can beat Mel or my Helio. Perfect 30's for both of their dances? Unstopable! Right now I kind of want both Jennie and Marie to step aside and let them battle it out! If Perfect 30's don't get them to the fin... read more

Marie Osmond "Grateful" That Larry King Blindsided Her

Though at the time his sister was obviously caught off guard by Larry King's knowledge of the situation and related line of questioning (watch the video here), Donny Osmond now says the CNN talk host did Marie a favor by bringing up her 16-year-old son's enrollment in rehab. "I have to back up and apologize publicly to Larry King," Donny said Monday on Today, referring to some harsh words he lobbed at King in the immediate aftermath of the emotional sit-down. "In hindsight, [he] did Marie a favor. She was able to make a statement about the situation [before the tabloids grabbed hold of the story]. And so she's grateful to Larry." read more

The 16-year-old son of Dancing with the Stars finalist Marie Osmond has entered a rehabilitation facility, though the nature of his problem has not been disclosed. "My son Michael is an amazing young man, shown through his courage in facing his issues. As his mother, I couldn't be more proud of him," Osmond said in a statement to the AP. "The press and public have always been kind and gracious in the past, and I know they will continue to respect our privacy during this time."Osmond, who has eight children in all, announced earlier this year that she and husband No. 2, Brian Blosil, are divorcing.Watch video of Marie being caught off guard by Larry King's question about her son. read more

A Passionate Plea for Justice!

Kiss me, you fool! Helio Castroneves, Julianne Hough by Carol Kaelson/ABC

Ok, I'll cut my usual critique and go right to begging! Well, maybe a little critique...but mostly pure, unapologetic begging. We're down to five and, as I see it, there are only two clear cut choices for the winner: my Helio and Mel B. If you don't agree I defy you to prove why your choice deserves to win. They are by far the best and most exciting. So this is my plea — let's keep these two safe! Get out there and vote.Don't get me wrong, I am a big Jennie Garth fan, but her performances tonight were a bit shaky and it makes me wonder whether she'd be able to handle the pressure of the finale. I definitely think she deserves a spot next week in the semi and if she gets better I think she should be the third spot for the finals.Cameron will be the one to go tomorrow night and I say that because I don't believe that Marie Osmond will actually lose. Side note — who put him in tan? That outfit looked like he should have been doing the Hustle and I thought his pants left very l... read more

Dancing with the Stars Backstage Report: Marie's Struggle

Marie Osmond and Jonathan Roberts, Dancing with the Stars

Her smile is famous the world over. And no one is quicker to laugh. But on Monday night, Marie Osmond's physical and emotional exhaustion after Dancing with the Stars finally got the better of her. The judges' tough comments seemed to take the last bit of fight out of her. "I'm whipped," she says quietly after the show. Nevertheless, after the show Osmond and her pro partner, Jonathan Roberts, headed to a rehearsal studio to begin work on next week's two new dances. It seemed impossible — foolhardy even — for her to keep practicing after a week spent burying her father and flying to Chicago with the Osmond family to make good on their promise to appear on Oprah. This Show is Cursed!

Bond Girl says Bye-Bye. Jane Seymour, Tony Dovolani by Carol Kaelson/ABC

What is it with this season? Good dancers are going home, people are fainting and, sadly, parents keep passing away! Marie — I'm sorry about your father. I'm sure you'll find comfort in your family during this time and we hope to see you back and sassy next week on the dance floor!Well, it could have been worse than Jane Seymour going home. For a second, I got a huge knot in my stomach thinking my Helio was on his way out! Or Jennie! Poor, sweet, most-improved Jennie. Luckily, we'll see her again next week.I was a bit surprised that Cameron found his way out of the bottom two. I guess the soap fans came through for him. I wouldn't have been sad to see him go though. His schedule is insane! He needs to sit down and take a nap. I'm exhausted just thinking about it. I'd be the biggest cranky pants if I were in his shoes they'd probably run me off the show. My one burning question of the night: Who did Kenny Mayne's make-up for the "Dance Center" bit? Was that turquoise eyeshadow ... read more

Osmond and Seymour Credit Dancing Through the Pain

Marie Osmond and Jonathan Roberts, Dancing with the Stars

You couldn't make this stuff up. Week after week, bombshells explode on the Dancing with the Stars ballroom floor: Jane Seymour's mother dies. Marie Osmond collapses. Jennifer Lopez's grandmother passes. Gloria Estefan's mother becomes critically ill. Seymour ends up in the emergency room with suspected food poisoning. And now, Osmond's father dies.  Last week, executive producer Conrad Green thought the worst was over when Jane recovered from her trip to the hospital. "It's been a turbulent season, but I think we're at the end of it now." Not quite. The headlines just keep coming."I got a call very early this morn read more
