All the drama, heartache and triumph of a Dickens novel comes alive in this extravagant screen adaptation with stunning portrayals by world-class actors. The young boy Pip, lives with his kindly Uncle. One day he helps an escaped convict, Magwitch - an act, which will have an effect on the rest of his life. Pip grows in the company of the deeply troubled Miss Havisham (deftly portrayed by Margaret Leighton), and falls hopelessly in love with her haughty young ward Estella. Pip eventually inherits a handsome and valuable property, which he believes was bestowed upon him by Miss Havisham. However, he learns that his fortune has come from escaped convict Magwitch who he had helped as a young boy, and will have to help again, as a man.Great Expectations is a richly rewarding film experience, its story filled with adventure, romance and moments to touch the hearts of audiences everywhere. watch
